I'm fully expecting him gone this summer, clear sign of the scumbags running our club!.........................
If there is a £30m black hole in the finances of the Swans, Dan is doing his best to clear it himself - assuming that he extends his contract!
Thing is, if they had any long term goals for the club (and indeed business sense) you can totally see his value continuing to grow (this is just his first season!) keep him and make a small investment into players and we'd be promoted on his back and his value would skyrocket, and everyone's happy.
Well it was a hard fought win at home in the end, and a win is a win aye!.............................
Well deserved win, should have scored more in that first half to make it less intense later on, but a win and a clean sheet is fantastic. We ruined our chances in the World Cup qualifiers by letting winning positions slip into draws so this was an improvement on that. Regarding Dan James, he'll be gone in the summer no matter what, the only question is where to: if Leeds get promoted they have a chance of signing him, if not I'm sure there'll be a couple of PL clubs wanting him - maybe Palace, Leicester, Brighton etc. Hope he signs a new deal with us so that less players get sold - as that's the best we can hope for.
If he signs a new deal it'll come with a release clause .Enjoy him and the rest of this years first team while you can
Was Dan James injured or totally knackered? Otherwise why take him off? Bizarre sub for me. We hung on last 20 but it's a massive 3 points. Bale needs to do more. Apart from playing with his bun and moaning at the ref every time the opposition goes near him.
Agree on Bale, Dan showed him up a bit there. Think he tries to do too much but now he has James, Brooks, Wilson, etc around him he doesn’t have to do it all himself anymore and needs to link up better.
Not a fan of giggs as manager anyway but the lads played ok and got the win but Slovakia could feel done by and deserved a draw.....When Giggs took off James i did fear the Worst but luckily we hung on......A improvement needed for the away games i think....
A draw would have been a fair result. We had one good chance in the second half but Wilson fluffed it, otherwise it seemed a matter of time before Slovakia scored. Some strange subs/formations throughout the game, but we won and that is all that international football is about. A great start for us.
Wales' record of starting strongly continues - the best stats Wales have now won their opening match in their past three major tournament qualifying competitions. Wales have won consecutive matches in all competitions for the first time since a run of three in October 2017 under Chris Coleman. Daniel James scored just five minutes into his competitive debut for Wales, with the Dragons' earliest goal in a competitive fixture since March 2007 (Ryan Giggs vs San Marino, three minutes). Gareth Bale had six shots in this game - his most without finding the net in a home match for Wales since October 2014 (10 vs Cyprus). Ashley Williams made his 85th appearance for Wales - only Chris Gunter (94) and Neville Southall (92) have played more games for the Dragons.
A good result for us, but also quite worrying. It means Hungary are also in the hunt for one of the automatic spots. It’s going to be a very tight group........... We need to win all our home games and pick up a few draws away at least.
I think this group is wide open now. Azerbaijan gave Croatia a stern test on Wednesday so everyone could be taking points off each other...which isn't very good for anyone trying to get a play off spot..
Hopefully though, the Azerbaijan and Hungary results may mean Croatia aren’t that good at the moment,
