I will give you a personal example of why the FAW's decision not to allow the players to wear poppies was to me a disgraceful act of cowardice. My mother's first husband was a rear gunner in a Sunderland flying boat. These were not combat aircraft but used for search and rescue. He was based in Malta during the second world war and his aircraft took off on a mission and was never seen again. The letter my mother received said that a flash in the sky was seen shortly after the aircraft took off. My mother later remarried my father but told me that even then for years after she wondered whether Ron would come home. The wearing of a poppy is not a political statement and does not violate any of FIFA's criteria but is an expression of rememberance and gratitude for those millions who have made the ultimate sacrifice so the likes of you can sit in comfort in your armchair and watch football on TV. Points and fines fade into insignificance compared with this and I'm appalled that the FAW gave in on a point of principle to a proven, corrupt organisation on such a sensitive matter. I am sorry you can't seem to understand this.

FIFA is very anti-British given the leading role the UK based media played in highlighting the widespread and long standing (alleged) corruption in FIFA.....
