And anyhow, I am very happy that an injury hit wales, missing our best CB in Ash, missing our best LB in Davies, missing our overall best player in Bale. Yet went to Belguim and got a draw, not to mention penalties not being given which could have changed the game.

Did you see that Belguim squad last night, that squad should beat our Welsh team 99/100, yet they didn't. Im very happy with that fact. So they done what they set out to do, get a result that was basically unexpected. So based on your claims that they should be doing what they set out to do, and didn't lose, I would say that was a fantastic result. And justifies his choice to play Bellamy.

And there is no such thing as a game that means nothing. Tell that to the players out there, your just a fan in his chair. Then a question is, did you watch the game? if so why? the game had no meaning after all, so why waste your time.
 
Also from Coleman's perspective. Not everyone in Wales wants him as manager, but if I were him I'd pick the best players I could if my job was on the line, the youth can wait!
 
I stopped watching/taking seriously the Welsh team when Vinnie Jones was drafted in,whenever that was.I was extremely embarrassed by that decision.
I didn't watch the game,or by inference, waste my time.
Which doesn't mean that I don't want them to succeed.
So, they drew a game that had no real impact on progression,against a team who had already ensured theirs. Nothing to draw from that.
It was seemingly a good result,but like the previous win,too little,too late.
Yet more false hope for the faithful,who will now assume that they will continue in that winning/drawing vein in the next tournament.
 
Coleman looks to have saved his job,so did he choose self preservation over the long term interests of the team/country?
 
Well if you don't set out to qualify what's the point?

A good result last night fair play but that doesn't mean we're anywhere near being a decent team. Last but one with a poor Scotland side finishing above us is a bad place to be.

Because of a lack of talent in depth it's essential that the smaller nations - whoever they are - play above themselves concentrate for the full 90. To do that you must have a manager that inspires the players, who will then go that extra mile and will bust a gut for him. Team spirit has to get you through if you are to upset the applecart.

Speed wasn't a great manager but he had that from his players and look at the results that followed. I'm not convinced the players will put that extra effort in for Coleman and for that reason, as well as our poor showing overall he has to go imo.

So why are you here giving your opinion on something, you yourself claim you don't take seriously. Therefore by not taking it seriously, what validity does your opinion actually have. Id rather the opinion of those who are interested. They would know better than those who are not interested. Wouldn't you say?

Not to mention you also said you don't watch them, so again, what value does your opinion bring to the table.

Its like me commenting on how to best plant flowers, yet I have no interest, or do any gardening. Id rather concrete the lot.

I don't take the Tory party seriously,but I am able to comment on it.
I don't take religion seriously either,but I consider that I have comments to make on that,as well.
When did I say that my comments have any validity,either to you,or anyone else? They are valid to me,since I have made them,and that is sufficient.
The fact that I don't follow the team physically doesn't mean to say I want them to fail.It's just that they always seem to.
Now if you only want to read positive comments about a team that always underachieves,then why are YOU reading my posts?
Perhaps you SHOULD take up gardening,talk to the flowers,learn how to accept that your opinion,however valid to you,isn't the only one out there.
 
Jack Charlton worked wonders with a group of lower league players when he managed one of the Irish teams,not sure which one it was,it was either Oxford or Cambridge.
No big names,no egos to massage,but he got them playing to their strengths, and they were quite successful.
I'm not convinced that Coleman could ever emulate that.
We rarely perform when all the big players are on duty,and then make excuses when the second string do just as badly.

By avoiding the question it seems you don't know what they are setting out to achieve.

How can you criticise them if you don't know what it is?

They may have achieved it. They may be trying to achieve the wrong thing. You don't know.

I was of that opinion before the last two games but the players have showed real spirit in the last couple of games. Especially last night as after the unlucky injury to Collins resulting in a goal conceded and 2 blatant penalties not given it would have been easy to have their heads down but they responded brilliantly and could even have won the game in the end.

I think he should be given an extension for at least the next campaign. The players seem to want this as well or they wouldn't have played the way they did.

He's also shown great maturity in his reproachment with Collinsl. Can't afford to alienate players like that permanently like Toshack did.
 
This debate has run it's course as far as I am concerned,one-eyed. I'm not quite sure how to respond to you now. I haven't avoided your question,you just don't like my response.

Since they have achieved precious little,are you suggesting that is what they set out achieve?

Could you point me to your reply to the question "What do they set out to achieve?" , or re-iterate it.

You don't watch them - your words
You don't take them seriously - your words
Are your opinions an opinion - YES
Are you entitled to air them - YES
Do we have to agree with them - NO
Do we have to bend over backwards to suit your opinions - NO

But like you have a right to tell us your opinion, I have the right to say that your opinion on the matter means nothing to me due to your own admission that you don't take them seriously and have not watched them.

So get off that high horse of yours.

That is my opinion whether you like it or not :) But don't accuse me of telling you that your not allowed an opinion, im just saying your opinion, for me personally is not a valid one, due to your own words that you basically have no interest, so why bother commenting? Makes very little sense.

Its like me saying how great Wales played last night, yet didn't watch them play. ****ing stupid if you ask me. Before you say anything, its an example, but I did watch them play.

Outside the box? well no ****, you said yourself, you dont watch, nor take them seriously, how much further out of the ****ing box can you get. Its like asking me my opinion on emmerdale, or eastenders or **** I don't watch. But instead of giving an opinion on something I don't take seriously, I have the common sense to say, I don't watch it, and leave it at that, instead of pretending I know something about it.

So to reiterate
a) you don't watch,
b) you don't take seriously
c) A position you have claimed you have been in since Vinnie Jones was drafted in.

So how many years ago is your opinion based on?

Is our team perfect, far from it, is our manager perfect, far from it, but I watch them, I keep note of them, I am interested in it.

I do however have no interest in gardening, I do not practice gardening, I can never take gardening seriously, and you don't see me going around giving my opinion about how to make your garden better. Why, cos I know in that situation, my opinion is as much use as a wet paper bag.

He's actually come out and said that the Welsh public need to realise that there needs to be a long term solution put in place to try and help Welsh football progress and not the current one or two set of qualification periods. Personally given the amount of injuries at each set of fixtures, I think Coleman has done pretty good. There is no point comparing his record to Speed's record as the latter had the likes of Bale, Ramsay, Allen, a much younger Bellamy, Ledley and Ash to chose from. Given the way the so called 'B Team' have played the past few games and with the return of these players, then maybe we might be able to have a decent crack at the next set of Euro qualifiers <ok>
 
Surely,any "long term solution" plan would have been in place before Coleman took over.
Well run organisations have long term goals/objectives,say over 10/12 years. At the end of each 3/4 year period, short and long term goals can be assessed and modified if required.
Not to already have such management structures in place would be a sign of bad management.
Young talent should be constantly monitored,and the best ones fed into the team over a period of years.
In addition,players coming to the end of their international careers should be weaned out of the team,thereby providing room for the future crop.
This is not necessarily going to produce a tournament winning team,but it will afford the best chance of doing so.
If such a system is in place,at least the paying public can see that all efforts are being made to produce a winning team. No-one could ask for more.
I get the impression that the current set up merely lurches from one game to the next,keeping their fingers crossed.

Agree and this is what Coleman was addressing in his speech in my opinion. I for one hope he gets a fair crack. Considering the players he has had available he has done no worse than any other manager could have in his shoes.
