arsenal have poldolski to play left side per germany and ox-chamberlain to play right. I would say giroud, ozil and ramsey being out hurts way more. carzorla, and the like are covering easily. arsneal: uselss keeper sagna donk - merte-tall bloke - kos-red card waiting to happen - useless left full 20 midfielders giroud in reality they needed a forward before walcott came back, when he was back and now he's injured the sotry has not changed. they should have always been looking for one. I'd not be lengthening their odds due to him being injured... i'd be lengthening them to attract more silly bets on a team that's going to implode in february anyway...
michael owen‏@themichaelowen4m A ligament the connects 2 bones does not affect speed. Muscles and tendons create speed and power, ligaments create stability. Owen upset with a paper saying it will be tough for Theo to come back from the ACL and all that. I can barely think of many players, no matter the sport, who have come back from an ACL type injury and been the same. What Owen forgot to mention is stability is crucial for your muscles and tendons and with weakend stability from the ligament damage and repair you are going to get that. Also with the surgery for the ACL/MCL/LCL you are going to have atrophy since you can't use that leg, causing imbalance in the muscles, in the stability, and the framework. Adrian Peterson, a running back from the NFL, is one of the few who have done this and come back at just about the same. RG 3, quarterback for the Redskins in the NFL, did his knee and was WOEFUL this year, completely lost his step.
be surprised if theo came back the same player, shame, but wont be the first and certainly wont be the last. will he still have an Arsenal future? Owen was never the same player when he lost his pace, will Theo be the same and still have a use for Arsenal.
This is what I find weird about the muscle and tendon thing with Owen....... after you have the atrophy from the surgery, getting the muscles back is not really that difficult is it? Hit the gym, add the weights, add the reps, go for mass, striation, etc. Get on the pitch, work on your running mechanics and explosion. So why then do players lose the speed if it is just muscles and tendons which can be easily strengthed and trained?
The tendon never has the same elasticity and strength, in essence, as there will always be a fault line where it was torn or severed. Unlike bone, which actually heals stronger where it was broken/fractured, ligament, such as hamstrings and groins, Achilles and cruciates, can't be 'built up', in fact, over-strong muscles pulling and stretching tendon can only really be compensated for by stretching and conditioning the tendon with warming up and yoga-like exercises. You can use physio to help recovery and healing, but can't make the cruciate bigger or stronger as if it was a thigh muscle or bicep.
