Definition of a real fan means going to every match?

I'm a London born Liverpool supporter (Dad's side are from Liverpool) and I've been to various games when I was a kid, got signed shirts (Old man goes whenever he can, met the players, friends with a few), etc, etc.

Since I turned 18 I've been to a total of 1 game in 5 years now, I work every Sat/Sun and have for 6 years. So I can't go to games. However I still own all the shirts, a member of the fan club and such. Should I be considered a fake fan due to money and work issues? The problem isn't fans not being able to go to games, it's that casual fans who do so often aren't as passionate as some who can't go.

Nope, I'm in a very similar position. I went to more games as a child because my father used to take me, his form of bonding I guess. He became disinterested in football and stopped taking me, then I moved to Wales... Since our relocation, I have been to the Emirates 3 times, 1 league and 2 Emirates cup fixtures. It's very hard to plan a trip financially and logistically.
I think a 'real fan' is somebody who sticks with the team through thick and thin, somebody who doesn't get blinded by quick success and realises that the club is bigger than just the 11 men on the pitch. I remember a news story a few years back when an African man committed suicide because of his Manchester United supporting friends taunting him when they knocked us out in the Champions League. He wasn't from this country but he was still passionate about the team (although, maybe abit extreme), could anyone say he wasn't a true fan?

You should join the South Wales Supporters Club, they seem to run trips to the vast majority of games home & away.
I don't know your financial position but if you can't afford to go to games i appreciate your position but when you use the term logistically i can only ask the question. How hard is it to book a day return from Cardiff to Paddington ?

I was really impressed by him last nite. he must have run further than most other midfielders and tracked back alot of the time. he did not like to loose the ball and would hold the player up if he lost it. Well done in my eyes.

Yep well done, He has been getting flack from some of our so called supporters before he even wore the shirt, put in a good shift and looked balanced as always, passed and moved the ball around. Good signing, comfortable player on the ball.

    <ok>

There will always be those who slag off our players - regardless of how well they do.
In my opinion, if someone wears the red shirt of Arsenal, then they deserve our support.

For the record - Bennyoon did really well last night.... I wonder if some of the more critical people on here will recognise that?

Time will tel but the usual suspects will only ever find the negative and the glass will always be half empty, we all have our gripes but it's good recognise and give credit where it's Due.

What about Chesney last night, again superb and commanding his area, I always feel 100% safe with him now, where as b4 with previous keepers my heart was always in my mouth as they say.. Top top ;) keeper in the making <party>

Benayoun ran all night. Arsenal have missed a player willing to put in the hard yards in recent seasons (nasri comes to mind) and I was quite pleased with his work rate. We will certainly need him to continue in this vein for the rest of the season.

I was also very impressed with how Arteta put his body on the line to head a ball away and came out bloodied but unbowed. Patched it up and got right back into the thick of it. Song was a giant as well, good to have him back.

He was good for Liverpool and never understood why they got rid of him. I knew he would be good for us and will always do a job for us. Good signing in my eyes, even though he looks like someone starved for a few weeks!!!

Showed some nice touches to get out of tight situations I thought and worked very hard. Seems like an excellent squad player to me.

  15. I always felt he added to Pool's strength whenever we met them and am glad he's wearing an Arsenal shirt now. Time his critics were silenced.

I'll say it again - Szczesny saved a certain goal right at the end with his Bollocks last night - that tells you everything you need to know about him <ok>

  18. I don't think one can fail to be impressed by Wojceich Szcsesny. It's as though everytime he's on you get something special from him. The man goes from strength to strength so I say it once more, all the big money clubs can keep their wallets tucked away. He ain't for sale.
