Which is bizarre in itself given the higher the fee the more money he'll get. His Agent must have been really taking the piss in terms of trying to line his own pockets off an early transfer.

French newspaper L'Equipe suggest Les Verts will pay €7m with a potential further €3m off add-ons. Fresh from the World Cup, the report suggests the 27-year-old will sign a four-year contract with the side who finished seventh in Ligue 1 last season. Khazri scored a couple of goals and provided two assists during the group stages of the tournament in Russia but couldn't fire Tunisia into the knock-out stages. Khazri spent last season on loan at Stade Rennais and enjoyed a successful stint with the Brittany-based outfit. Rennes qualified for the Europa League as the Sunderland-owned man scored 9 goals in France's top division. The Tunisian was signed by Sam Allardyce for Sunderland in January 2016 and after a successful initial period as Big Sam kept the side up, his spell became increasingly frustrating under David Moyes. Khazri only started seven games as the Black Cats were relegated from the Premier League and after featuring in last summer's pre-season games under Simon Grayson, the Corsican-born player departed on loan towards the end of the transfer window. The report in L'Equipe suggests Khazri will earn a gross €4m a year with Saint-Etienne, the equivalent of around £60,000-a-week. That's a huge salary for a French club to be paying. Les Verts have perhaps made room in their wage bill by off-loading former Sunderland midfielder Yann M'Vila. The French midfielder is reportedly on the verge of signing for Crystal Palace, though Fulham have also been credited with an interest. M'Vila played in the same Sunderland side as Khazri under Allardyce and became a firm favourite on Wearside during his loan spell from Russian outfit Rubin Kazan. The 28-year-old joined Saint-Etienne last summer.
A big salary off the books, a little over 6 million upfront with the potential for another 2 and a half million coming in add-ons. Happy with that.
Money, Money, Money. If only we were buying players like M'Vila, still in the premiership, Moyes had the chance but reckoned he could do better, and came up with Pienaar.
And some thought he was useless joke to boot, and that Hendo was not much kop, its all about opinion I am told. Still sore over a lot of players we have written off too quickly, especially our own kids coming through who have never been given a chance even when it would have cost us nothing to see them given a go, Beadling, being a classic example.
Are any of the players that we got rid of because they are crap in a team lower than us, not counting retired or dead ?
To be fair there'll be quite a few of those released who dropped out of the game pretty much altogether. Then you've got players like the Swede on that other thread who is playing in the top league in Sweden but it's hard to gauge how good that's likely to be. Lower than the Championship, better than League One? Possibly not.
Not sure, but not many if any, the point I was making is that quite a few of them seem to better themselves, but this is probably because we notice them more. I am more concerned with the home grown players that are moved on too quickly, this is another grey area, but the wastage is very high and a few really good prospects are lost to the game by being at the wrong club, at the wrong time. Football is a funny buisiness, at the time of writing according to the Echo, Asoro is on his way to Swansea, who could have predicted that two years ago, not me.
