It seems to me like Waghorn just needs a new start, I know he had a dismal season last year but from that collection of goals in that video you can see he has talent. I for one would love us to sign the lad, he has such potential and Nigel will get him back to the player he was when on loan to Leicester I have no doubts about that. Some players just get 'stuck in the mud' if you like, at one club, but can set the world on fire once they get a move to somewhere that suits them, take Puncheon as a prime example. Also I'm lead to believe he's sometimes played as a lone striker? or in wierd formations? or something like that. But I think if he was playing off of someone like Lambert he'd score dozens of goals and you'd see what he's really about. If Leicester are willing to let him go then I really hope we get in there, question is would they be prepared to sell a player to a promotion rival? - if we're even that - it just felt good saying it
I assume we're talking to you about his availability, we know we're going to bring in another striker and given the fact they've already worked together, I'd be amazed if big Nige wasn't interested. Was he at his best playing alongside Matty, or did he score most of his goals alongside someone else?
Waggy and Fryatt never really played together and when they did they didnt play well. Waghorn was used as a squad player until Matty broke his jaw then Waggy got his chance up front and took it. Waggy did play up front alot on his own and then with Steve Howard. He does play better with Steve Howard but also does a good job on his own
No he is an awful winger. Thats the problem now, he keeps playing on the wing and he shoots from 35 yards everytime it goes a mile over the bar.
Would you be annoyed if Leicester let him leave or would you not really be bothered? Im not convinced by him at all.
At first i was totally against the idea of him going. We all wanted him to stay but after his start to this season we all agree he needs to move. Waggy wants to go aswell so he will leave one way or another
No I don't think many of us would be bothered (though there is a sad group on Facebook desperate for him to stay). He is woefully out of form at the moment and a fresh start is his only chance. He is talented though, I think he'll be good for you. And I disagree about him being an awful winger, at least not on his favoured left side, he's quick and has a good cross on him. It's not his suited position though, the last thing you want to do with a player short on confidence is play him out of position.
Im sure he is a good player, but I dont like the sound of us buying a player that one of promotion rivals dont want. It just sounds like a step backwards to me.
Sometimes though it's just the wrong player for the wrong club at the wrong time. He was brilliant in his first season and helped fire us into the the play-offs. I really think it's a confidence issue and if he's in the right frame of mind with the right management, he will be an asset. How do you think you will use him BTW, I would have thought it would be from the bench?
More than likely as a squad player, as Connolly wont last a whole season playing every week. I hear what your saying, but its like Man Utd buying Bendtner of Arsenal, it wouldnt strike you with confidence would it.
I presume that you're just trying to wum and actually know that we did a deal to buy Ayala, but it was hijacked by Norwich(for the same price). Our owner has already invested almost £50m since his takeover, I'm sure he could rustle up another million or two if he fancied it.
