Eaves played a fair bit too? And Long was in our Championship squad. And then as I said above, we signed guys like Smallwood (free), and Adelakun (loan) and they were incredibly productive for us. Jones on loan from Southampton was effective too, and then some youngsters stepped up. My point being, it's very easy to be doom and gloom when we're staring down the barrel. I remember in July 2020 sitting there thinking we'd finish bottom half of League One and seeing that as a POSITIVE (i.e. not going down again). Most PL clubs upon relegation think that's the end of the world and the good times are over.. only to canter to promotion with a fraction of their failed PL squad. We could very well end up having to sell 95% of our squad, end up piecing together a bunch of freebies and mercenaries, and throw kids in the deep end. But until that happens, I just don't see the point in writing off next season before this one has even finished!
It's not a u-turn at all. I've not been daft enough to say what is or isn't happening behind the scenes when rumours are flying and I've no idea what is true or to what extent. I have said that certain posters have a poor record when it comes to accuracy. And no one mentioned anything about unpaid wages until it was reported in The Athletic, but I'm sure some are happy to 'confirm' that now that it's broken.
Yeah, confidences can be a bitch sometimes. Might be worth noting that Baz said he was also told about it ahead of time. Didn't report it either. Is he bullshiting 'cos he "never said before" too? Or is he just not biting the hand that feeds him whilst doing his best to forewarn at the same time, only to get abuse? Oh, and the late wages btw are just the tip of the iceberg, they always are, whichever division. It means the club is "robbing Peter to pay Paul to just to pay the rent" as the old saying went... ...it's just a much f*cking bigger iceberg if Saturday goes wrong.
You lot are overreacting a bit. There’s players we can’t sell like Joseph ands Kamara. There won’t be many queuing up to sign 6/7 of the current squad.
Ok, so we go bankrupt then leave for free when we can't pay them. Only were still eligible for the difference in wage when they join another club for next to nowt. It's a race to the bottom.
I had a spicy chicken one for lunch today. Extra mayo and less Parmesan and no anchovies. "Yum, yum", I Claudius.
Kamara will get interest. He has the most goal contributions in our side. And if he doesn't have interest then great he can bash up league one for us.
If a player cancels his contract due to unpaid pages, as he’s entitled to do, he becomes a free agent and no fee is due (unless compo for U23 rules apply) and no wages are due either.
Can't remember who posted it but the question has to be asked. Did all the rumours about financial difficulty start because players were told they were getting paid a couple of days later than normal? OR Are they players getting paid late due to financial difficulty?
Hard to say. I do trust what our insiders say when they repeat things they've heard, but we're not privy to things like context or potential embellishment from the source. I tend not to get carried away with rumour because yet again it grows legs and starts running amok. The owner then goes public to address things and the same people criticise him for being too open or lying. Minds are made up based on the rumours, which become indisputable so the owner can't win whatever they do. A bit ridiculous really. We've even seen recently people arguing the massive upturn in attendances he can't even take credit for. It just goes way too far to be honest and at least on here, it just comes across as petty point scoring - if someone's at that level then I don't value the opinion, I just disregard it.
Late payment of wages and scrambling around to bring the money in from overseas are both worrying signs no matter how the club try to spin it. Yes they were payed "by the end of the month" and nothing legally broken etc. but no matter how the club and box try to spin it, it doesn't change the fact they were payed after the date agreed to be payed by the club and the date they've been payed for months and months. Again yes the more experienced pro's it probably isn't going to couse issues, but the younger lads who aren't earning ££££ a week, it may if caused issues with their payments out etc, which isn't fair at all and is piss poor, embarrassing and not a great look for the club. If a sale is happening or being looked at in the background, any potential buyers have a great negotiating tool now as well. Plus any potential incoming players will also have this to add into the mix when thinking about coming to us. It's a clusterfuck top to bottom and the tip of the iceberg
Why not just wait till after the game Saturday all this just winds people up, it would be just as appropriate to not just always add negative stuff but also add any upside to whatever is occurring. You know I suspect some things as it has been going on since he threw his hand in for the play off push and last may it started to take shape so it has being going on for a year gradually getting worse , wolves are certainly in wait but which wolves matter will be more apparent after Saturdays result. It is not as if there is no light at the end of the tunnel and worst I can see is possibility of points deduction if we do get relegated with new owners, if we stay up then an alternative group or individual.
