Oh I thought I'd heard somewhere both Cabaye and Tiote had doubts, sorry I've not been keeping upto date with fitness reports. <ok>

    this, from the official site

"There's no point in having long contracts if you aren't good enough," explained Pardew.

"But we are confident that Vurnon will be a big success for us. That length of contract comes with a lot of scouting and a lot of background, which we have done.

    - how confident does that make you feel, they really do their work properly, I love it :)

The link you've posted on your thread Col suggests he'd not have a problem playing full-back if required, which I think is a plus <ok>

Though other reports are saying different, we'll see I guess!

    - I think Pardew is saying he will play midfield, but I also have read he is 100% pro and plays where he is told to and has had experience in both full back positions, excellent IMO

    BREAKING NEWS!!!!!

Newcastle has been covered in an unexplained slimey goo with the epicentre apparently over the house of a resident called Mr T Ash.
Mr T Ash was unavailable to comment.

Another fantastic signing from Pardew. You will challenge for the title in a few seasons time if he keeps buying quality players.

    I wonder if Pards is considering playing two holding midfielders in a 2 - 3 - 1.

At the moment we only have 2 starting strikers but we have quite a few attack minded midfielders: Cabaye, Jonas, Oberetan, HBA, Marveaux, Sammi, Vukic, Abeid, Gosling, Amilfitano, Fergie.

Playing one striker in front of three attacking mid filedrs might be a way of getting decent fire power while keeping our strikers fresh. To do that, though, you need 2 mids dedicated to watching the back door: Tiote, Anitas, Perch, Bigi.

    Just a thought.

Can you imagine sitting in front of Tash at the match if Anita scores the winning goal?

Great signing, well happy to get him in, hopefully he can prove to be as big a success here as he was at Ajax.

Our squad is actually starting to look pretty strong.

Anyway, the headline on the Back Page of the Ronnie is:

    Burning Vurnon.

Red-hot Anita is good enough to shine for Toon, says Dutch legend.

Dutch international legend Frank de Boer has backed Vurnon Anita to be a major success at Newcastle United - even though he admits it has left a gaping hole in his title winning Ajax team.

In an exclusive interview with the Chronicle last night, de Boer conceded he had lost one of the best young players to have come through the ranks at the Amsterdam-ArenA in recent years.

Newcastle were hopeful of completing the formalities of making Anita a Newcastle player today.

The results of his medical were being analysed and "one or two matters" needed to be tied up.
