David Moores should hang his head in shame. Getting John to do his work for him.

This so-called mediocrity is here until we financially get over the stadium expansion costs - we should get used to it.

Its here because there are 4 richer bigger clubs taking up all 4 CL spots.... thats the reality.

IT was all hunky dory when it was just newkie or spurs we could all laugh as arsenal tried thier best to just get 4th but now the reality is with the addition of city to the mix we are 5th and to break in we had utd have their worst season in 20 odd years.

thats the real truth. we had a good season with plenty of goals and exceeded even before utd ****ed up but this year we've a total lack of goals and still managed to crawl to 5th... thus far.

Thats the truth... We are smaller than the others and as ego bruising as tha tis to those who want to talk history until the club admits that to itself and get on with the work to resolve it its stuck with it.

LFC are building a 54k expansion.. we MIGHT build a 58k one... WTF... I know the club has a planning issue to go further then... why are we not pushing for that rail link... why is everton not too.

Why are we not aiming for 70k not 58k...

why? cos we are small minded.

  7. That comes down to fan base. Man Utd get more focus than any other club in this country because of the massive amount of glory fans (that all clubs get when successful) they have means talking about them sells more papers (or gets more hits etc)

    redconn is right.

this is the age old issue.

The rate of improvement has to be greater than the rate of degradation.

Example Atletico. lose torres bring in aguero, lose aguero bring on falcao, lose falcoa bring in costa, lost costa bring in greizmann.

All along that train of players Atletico raked in the cash... that meant they could develop other areas too...

now this is a one off really cos theres only so many players like this but.........

IF you can sell and use the proceeds to improve yourself and you accept players will do and you have a strategy to replace then you can improve.

Another example on the other side

    Spurs.

bale.. bale... bale... refuse to sell... whine bitch moan... sell for world record... buy a heap of muck.

Spurs had modric and bale and loris... and others. they fought tooth and nail not to sell but rather than have the strategy of who's next they spent wildly on players like soldado who didn't suit them.

Sadly LFC have to become that selling club and shift the guy on and always have the next guy in place ready to go.

We bought aspas when we has suarez... that says it all.

exactly. it doesn't matter the content.. you just have to have a utd story.

IT is the same for LFC within the country the rags have to have a story to sell.

We seriously seriously under rate cheslea's appeal now though... it is vast.

  10. I think Chelsea have overtaken us TBH. Probably Arsenal too but not sure about Man City yet so I'd say we're the fourth ATM.

What injury crisis? Sturridge was injured but who else? Sakho is the only other one I can think of.

United and Arsenal have suffered far more injuries than we have.

And I don't buy the whole 'we're 5th most expensive squad so we can only finish 5th' argument. It's defeatist and there are many examples of clubs over-achieving. the best managers are the ones who overachieve.

Using the most recent example, Juventus are not the 2nd most expensive team in Europe but have made it to the final? And this is a team that was gutted, penalised, relegated before coming back up, winning titles and now in CL final.

What have we been doing since then?

Does the media take into account the fan base when writing about the clubs - I don't know. The tv companies do though. We still have more games on tv than the real mediocre clubs, which all points to us not being mediocre as the op suggests.

    I think they all do.

If you've a choice of a story about a liverpool player or an everton player which will you fake to sell papers.

    If I were Henry:

    1) Go back to a DoF structure and get Monchi in ASAP. Let him build the scouting network, find the players, and dictate which manager is best suited.

    2) Hire a new manager in line with DoF's expectations. Klopp, De Boer, Emery - managers who have achieved something in their careers, not just offer potential.

And that's it. Get the structure in place - we have seen plenty of examples of good quality players arriving for low fees and reasonable wages. We just need to find more of them across the continent and not rely on buying from the domestic market.

We have a woefully average squad, woefully average manager who will just sign more dross this summer. It won't be long before Spurs become bigger than us.

This is the thing - I don't think it's that bad. One thing that is in our favour is there plenty of young talent.

Can, Ibe, Markovic, Coutinho, Sterling (if he stays), Origi, Ilori, Moreno, Manquillo.

This has the makings of a good team if we can supplement them with a strong core i.e. Sakho.

I think we are 3 quality players short - RCB, DM and CF, but then we need a manager who knows how to use these players. They have all been mismanaged this season and have all regressed bar Coutinho.

I'll agree on Can, Ibe and Coutinho. However Markovic and Moreno are a mess imo, Sterling will be off and the others are unknown. Hardly makes us a young talented team.

Moreno has suffered this season and he;s been playing wing back which is not suited to him, and he has little experience of that. In a back 4, he's looked poor when alongside Lovren. But when he's with Sakho, he's a lot better.

Markovic has struggled but again, he's another player who has been played out of position. And it's his first season in the PL and still getting to grips with it. No doubt he will become a massive talent, and could be the fella to replace Sterling.
