In all honesty it's unrealistic for us to be trying to do it all in one go and pretend we can challenge for the title.

Stage 1 - we need to be good enough to finish Top 4, aim for a domestic trophy at best, AND personally that we're better than the other three e.g. Arsenal, Spurs and Chavs.

So address the areas of the team/squad to achieve that. At least 1 quality CB, 1 quality RB, a creative midfielder and it seems we're getting James for the LW. So at this stage 4 players minimum imo should be enough. The idea of buying 6/7/8 players is pie in the sky and a big risk as well imo. Hopefully we'll be giving chances to a couple from the academy as well.
The Colombian guy? Oh dear, that just seems like another Sanchez type buy.
He's going to want big wages and I'm not sure he's the player you need. He's another with an undeserved reputation.

This could be you continuing down the same path of buy 'names' rather than whats right.

No thank God! Daniel James from Swansea. Young lad, but supposed to be a real talent. I've not seen much of him but Chief on our board goes to the games and has been on about him before United were in for him.

Having read reviews about him he seems like a good prospect. Thankfully, that is the way we should be going. Although we do need a balance of experience and raw talent we can develop. But experience shouldn't mean big star names necessarily. At most, I'd consider Kroos tbh but that's about it.

Not really much to change next season for Liverpool IMO. How do you top this season? Keep playing as they are and surely they have to win a PL title eventually
Genuinely this isnt a dig
I used to think that with Arsenal and the CL under Arsene
Was gutted for you when you lost to Barca in the final

Settle down. Stop acting like your club are squeaky clean when you are not. Show me one example of saints taping a player up?
oh **** off you righteous prick, every club taps players up ffs.

difference is you get well paid for yours :emoticon-0172-mooni

I must say that I believe that the points total and the wins we had had something to do with the fact that we were chasing City. If we were at the front I am not sure we could have maintained that relaxed and relentless run. It was as if there was absolutely no pressure on our players.

Great great season but not to be champions is absolutely soul destroying. I was so confident that we got the title this season at last.

Not sure I agree with this. If anything city constantly winning put more pressure on the team not to slip up and 9/9 at the end of the season proved that this team have done great character.

I think that one of the best achievements of Klopp was in decreasing the pressure on his players. Of course there was bound to be some pressure and our history has us crumbling very often under pressure. Klopp has managed to get his team playing without panic until the last game. I remember him saying that there is no pressure on our players as city were expected to win the title and that we were only chasing them. If we miss out so be it.

We looked a nervous wreck when we were leading the pack. We're only started to look calm again once it was back in Man City's hands

Exactly my point.

Others here may not wish to acknowledge the lesser pressure on us but leaders are under more pressure not to be overtaken.

When we are leading in future we will need to be as nerveless as City.

If Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was fit from the beginning of the season maybe, and maybe we should have earned
at least two points more.

lads.... it's all done and was great. we have loads of good games and a few bad ones.

we I think got our entertainment and then some.

it doesn't work like that dribs, the player ox might have replaced has more than earnt their position in team and may have contributed more to the team than ox could have.

need to stop making out ox will be some kind of saviour, good player but no more important than everyone else.

without divok, we wouldnt have been in a position where we was fighting for title last day, or sturridge etc.

it really doesn't matter.

97 points is 3rd highest total ever.

just look to ourselves nobody else.

if you need some form of confidence boost look at atletico in Spain. they eventually got there

Gutted but its now time to look forward to the next season with optimism (not forgetting our little match with Spurs).

I feel that we will need to do a Leicester to win the title. Ok we are not exactly Leicester in actual size and following and expectations. But we will need others to have a bad season or at best an indifferent one. Especially City.

Looking back on it the other 4 top clubs have been really under par, especially the mancs who dropped off really badly. That accentuated the performances of the top 2. If we can come back from 24 points adrift last season to challenge then why is it not possible for the others IF they get their act together. I am thinking of Chelsea as the most likely challengers to the top 2.

It's been said before. It's the hope that kills you in the end.

anything can happen.

if the prem turns into la liga it won't be a shock... why? Cos Utd and arsenal did it for years.

serie a is dominated utterly by juve... nobody wants that.

la liga is currently dominated by Barca but others do win titles.

there's always someone in a dominant position

The problem is that it is City in that dominant position. I fear we could have our best period in premiership history being completely overshadowed by the dominance of an exceptional City side.
