Virgil never over-elaborates. He doesn't try anything tricky in dangerous situations, if required he punts the ball into the stand rather than try a Cruyff turn or whatever. He does all the basics expertly, and in addition he reads the game so well.
I always play the percentages when defending, thought this was just something all defenders did tbh. VVD is just better at it
Including a lot of us on here. For that reason, the way hes stuck out all the early stick he got and now has fully become a real captain of this club, the way he conducts himself is exceptional on and off the pitch. also the possibility of lifting a fair few cups over the next few years could lift his status right up there with some of the clubs all time legends by the time he leaves or retires.
I did say this a few weeks ago; got his sights set on that PL trophy. He already knows (twice) what it feels like to miss out and he's determined it's not happening a third time!
You're right. I can't work out whether he's back to what he was before that sending off when we really missed him in the last few games or whether he's reinventing himself and is better than he's ever been.
A bit of both? He's got over various injury issues and is back to what he was but Klopp as worked with him on his weaker areas
