Virgil never over-elaborates. He doesn't try anything tricky in dangerous situations, if required he punts the ball into the stand rather than try a Cruyff turn or whatever. He does all the basics expertly, and in addition he reads the game so well.VVD seems to be saying 'Go on, have a shot from there, 'cause you won't beat him, but you're not getting any closer'. Occasionally, by the law of averages, somebody will beat him with a worldie shot, but playing to percentages, it's an overall sound tactic.
