Didn't put himself about at all. Pulls out of trying to win long balls and on two occasions told Coutinho to go out wide when he was out there seemingly to not have to track back himself. Origi is leaps and bounds ahead of the guy and that shows with Klopps team selections. The effort Sturridge demonstrates is pathetic
I think you just see what you want to see as I don't recall any pulling out of challenges and I saw him running about - and pointing Coutinho to potential dangers is bad too? I think you will get your wish and he will go in the summer but just banging on about how pathetic he is after a 10 minute cameo when we were holding on rather than talking about positives e.g. A clean sheet against the best set piece/long ball/crossing team in the league is a waste of energy
I think Origi has come on the last few weeks and is rightfully ahead of a half fit Sturridge. I wouldn't knock Studge for his 10 minutes though....he didn't do anything wrong and didn't really have the opportunity to do anything right. Main thing is that we win with the bonus of a clean sheet. I'd settle for 1-0 wins in our next 5 games
There was 1 moment when ball went into air and and he stepped back and just allowed defender to head it on half way line. That's only moment I remember him pulling out of challenge as it were. I dont think its fair to judge him on today's performance. Was 10 min and we were back to wall defending so was never going to get much of ball and do anything with it. Still think he has 1 or 2 big goals in him this year to help us and if he does that and gets us CL then won't begrudge him a move f he wants regular first team football.
Can't blame him for that - he never had a chance to. The only opportunity he might have had, Moreno wasted it by going for a Xabi.
Can motm for me Everyone was decent but other stand outs were Matip, Mingo and Lucas, Firmino also put a shift in.
