So we manage to get all the way to the end of February without losing a single game, breaking records along the way and we still manage to have a meltdown over it.
It's a bit mad though, as much as I was a bit annoyed that we lost it was easy enough to forget about it and move on. Great set of fixtures coming up. Can't wait.
They've had to wait a while, some were verge of bursting had they not been given chance to ventilate...
Normally I agree with your posts, but (and this isn't dependent on if you appreciate it or not) it is arrogance. Many people in the world are arrogant, that's their perogative, but it's not a trait I admire. Unless you're certain to win it (mathematically certain), then you've not yet won it. Singing about how you will win it is arrogance and eventually that comes back and bites you on the arse - just like it did in 13/14 and made us laughing stocks. You'll notice I said nothing about the, 'Champions of Europe' chant...which is precisely the point I'm making. We've won that. That's swagger and being proud. We've not YET won the league and that's a big difference. That's my gripe with it. I'm one of those 12th men a few times a season, not as often as I'd like to be these days, and our fans have carried us beyond the impossible at times. But it's the one song out of a bloody long repetoire I have an issue with. It's far from being bang out of order, or perverse or any other extreme word used here to describe my views. ...and maybe the players get carried away with it too and grow complacent? Everyone around the club got so swept up under it under Rodgers. Just a thought...it's very possible.
I appreciate your posts and the effort you put into them. I respect your opinion but I don't agree on this particular occasion. You say arrogance, I say passion, hope and expectation. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. So it didn't come off last time, so what. It's a poor state of affairs if you can't celebrate prematurely for fear of being a 'laughing stock'. If the fans can't get excited in anticipation of a momentous happening then we become like Everton fans, a booing, negative, miserable bunch. Let's sing and be happy while enjoying what we see.
Passion, hope and expectation sure! All for that. I just think if you keep heading in the direction of expectation, there's a line that you cross which is arrogance. Celebrating prematurely also can potentially end in heartbreak, again, 2013/14. I'm dead happy! Loving life, loving this team, loving the season. I'll sing we've won it...when we've mathematically won it. Prevents any disappointment and prevents embarrassment but that's just me. Still entitled to my opinion, just as you are, although claims that my post was bang out of order or perverse (I realise you didn't say this) are way wide of the mark. Agree to disagree
I wouldn't let the word perverse bother you. (Can't remember who used it). It's one of those words that when you read it you go straight to the extreme meaning but it also means 'not what most people expect' which could be the intention here. We're not in agreement on this one and that's okay.
