I'm almost glad we lost...we've been pretty ****e for a while and the players certainly need a kick up the arse (it also means United aren't the only team to take points off us). The constant talk over the last few months about invincibles and an unbeatable season has been annoying and a major distraction. I certainly don't accept the lie peddled by PR riddled press comments about how, 'the lads are focusing on the next game and not reading the news'. Of course they're bloody reading the news! And worrying about instagram. I couldn't give a toss about records right now, I just want to win the bloody thing finally and see how to improve next season. I've also grown incredibly tired of the phone-ins and media comments from fans who, frankly, are nothing short of arrogant. I even hate the 'We're gonna win the league' chant which made us look royally stupid in 2013/14. We're still a ****ing amazing team and we should win the league this season, but this is an important wake up call to the players and the fans to keep their heads screwed on, be gracious and remember that nothing in football is certain. The only thing more embarrassing than us losing this badly though is the celebrations from rival fans...over 20 points behind and celebrating? Worry about your own issues, probably part the reason you're so ****e. Regarding the game, the big change to the lineup was obviously Lovren, who'll get the brunt of the flak, so it's natural to suggest he's the one that's upset the team. That might be partly true; a change in the lineup with someone who rarely plays causes everyone to adjust their game, think more, hesitate more or question the best choice to make in each situation. Like Zanjinho has suggested, probably just a game to keep him happy against 'lesser' opposition but my god, terrible performance. Awful from almost everyone though. At least Klopp's teamtalk for Tuesday will be pretty easy...I'd expect to see a major reaction by the players from this.
he played 8 out of 9 earlier in season ,the 1 he missed was against Man Utd , but then was out with an injury .
Definitely. And without doubt Gomez it's second best to VVD. Just think Matip is much better than Lovren (wasn't that long ago I had Lovren as VVD's partner)
Positives, at least Utd aren't the only team to take points off us. We will likely get beaten by City, so at least that can't be our only defeat.
agree on the order . Personally Gomez would be my VVD partner if only because his extra pace compared to Matip & Lovren helps cover the space we leave behind us .
The only part of this I don't agree with is the 'arrogant..fans' singing 'we're gonna win the league'. Those fans have supported and continue to support the team through thick and thin. They travel the world to support this team, our team, paying their hard earned money in order to do that. I don't know about you but I haven't been to a game in a few years so from my perspective sitting here in my comfortable chair while they are travelling the length and breadth of the country in hail, rain, wind and snow, doing 'my' job for me by being present to cheer the team on, they can sing what the hell they want.
I really wish this is the kick up the arse but I’m not hopeful. The Norwich game should have been a kick, as was Madrid, as was West Ham, as was going down 1-0 vs Watford, as was going 2-0 down. We’ve got a tricky away game vs Chelsea and we really need to be up for it.
I like it too. I understand the point he was trying to make but criticism of the match going fans is out of order. Lots of us, for various reasons, don't go to the game and that's okay, I will never criticise anyone for not going but please don't then make out that the fans who are there singing something you don't like are being arrogant. Even if they are, from my point of view, they're allowed. Where would we be without our 12th man? The support has been magnificent, outstanding and I thank them for that.
If the team selection was the reason at the weekend, that's easily remedied. In the other games you mentioned, we won and we're always being told that's the sign of a truly great side, to get the win anyway possible. I think as fans we carry on the way we have been. Get behind the team. The weekend hurt because we've grown accustomed to winning and almost forgotten how the other side of a result feels. Feel it and then move on.
Agreed. Fans can sing what they want, and even if we were in 3rd place but in good form there's no reason to moan about that song. Moaning about it when 20+ points clear top of the league is absolutely perverse.
Everyone's entitled to their opinion and that's his. I just don't agree with it. Abusive chants aside and I can't recall any that we sing, they've earned the right to sing what they want.
