I didn't think we were that awful in the first half - a bit lacklustre and playing within ourselves. Perhaps we're subconsciously pacing ourselves. I fully expected us to come out stronger in the second half, and that it was just a matter of time. Although they had their moments, I never feared we weren't going to win the game. The scoreline was harsh on Saints, who are a useful side. Hard to imagine why they struggled so much earlier in the season.
I always fear we aren’t going to win the game lmao I thought we were letting them blow themselves out as the were pressing all over
Well done to Liverpool and although we would have preferred a positive result, it wasn't to be. We gave you as much of a battle as we could and I thought we matched you for quite a bit of the game but your team really is something else. You have rolled over every team so far and today it was our turn, so no shame in that. Congratulations on an immense achievement this season and even though there's a way to go, you will definitely get there. You will also get there in a manner that is probably going to go down in football history as the best Premier League team ever, and no one can ever take that away from you. Brilliant stuff.
1st half was hard work, saints played very well, press worked and they could maybe should of gone ahead. Second half was similar until the goals started going in, but I can only imagine how dispiriting it must be to give it your all and see us pop a couple home the first time we have an opportunity. The 3rd and 4th they where done by then, chasing a game they had no chance of getting back into. By the end it looked like men against boys.
I wondered tbh because he isn't an established first teamer yet. I also wonder if Lallana will be available - not a 'kid' but not a proper first team member either.
Thanks for the kind words. This team is a machine, all credit to the manager and coaching staff but full credit to the players for giving everything and having outstanding commitment and desire. Good luck to yourselves for the rest of the season, looks like you've turned the proverbial corner.
but he was at RB Salzburg so has been playing all the 1st half of the season. Klopp said the first team squad were given the first week off so should include Lallana et al .
Just watching the highlights, it strikes me how much trust the defence has in the keeper and how much that may effected us in the past. You look at virgil shepherding players into a position and happy to let them shoot happy that allison will save it. Now put migs in goal (or any of the last keepers), and rather than shepherding and letting them shoot the defence is panicky and is desperate to stop any shot.
Not sure Migs and VVD played together too many times. When VVD arrived, Klopp played Karius instead, the Alisson arrived. Get your point though
Yeah agree with this, as well as we played first half - and we were very good imo - I always felt you had another gear and would win relatively comfortably in the end even had we taken the lead. Thought that in a lot of your games this season tbh, people can say that some games have been close but they're not really and it never feels like you're not in control of a match. The 4th stung a bit but that's the quality you lot have, and the gulf is quality is absolutely staggering, and a little bit sickening if I'm honest. Can't recall being pleased after a 4 nil defeat before. And if an ex Saint had to score then I'm glad it was Chambo.
