I think he's doing his best to get the media blowing smoke up his arse and have them as usual having digs at nufc fans. The day Bruce is sacked theyll all come out saying he did better than rafa and didn't get time... They'll say the fans didn't give him a chance and Bruce's ego will be pampered basically... He's always setting himself up crash mats

Is jonjo taking the piss here...

"We know we have character going back two or three years.

"And maybe we would have lumped it then but the gaffer wants us to play.

"We have taken a lot of criticism over the last couple of weeks over not creating enough chances."

Tbh I agree with jonjo we didn't lump it up at the end we lumped it up for 60 mins until Carroll was removed...

Bruce might want them to play, but he needs to coach it in.. I want never gets

We did have a go towards the end I suppose, Andy had a tough night in fairness, Subs definitely made the difference.

He’s had a tough 42 games bless him. He scored no goals and he’s a striker. That’s like being a goalkeeper and never saving a shot.

Carroll is a con man.. He's nowhere near a professional footballer...

He's absolutely useless. He just lumbers about barging into people, giving away fre kicks and shouting at officials...

Carroll was a decent front man when he was younger but the game has changed since then and he has lost a lot of the mobility he had. Spends too much of his time on his arse - Wilson made him look better in the game against West Ham but to be honest i would rather have Wilson on his own up front with St Maximin playing just behind him. Don't know how you use Carroll any more.

Carroll had 11 good games at Newcastle a decade ago being fed my Kevin Nolan and joey Barton and he's been useless ever since. He gives his all and whether he's great to 'have around' I'm not sure of.. It seems to me like a fallback line from our manager to cover what's been a poor decision sign him, but tbh even if someone's good in the dressing room I'm not having it... You've got to be able to play.

Was doing late viewings last night and made it back for the second half but for the first time in about 10 years I couldn't be bothered to watch the second half as all the pundits and fans on social media were slandering the style of play, the players performances the tactics etc. honestly could not bring myself to waste 45 mins of my life watching utter rubbish - I read a book instead (WTAF).

Good we won but surely after the last few performances (Brighton, Spurs and now this) Ashley must have a decision to make. Bruce crowing on about needing time to change things. It's been nearly 18 months now and we are an absolute shambles. We have been ****e going forwards since the last relegation but at least Rafa had the defence sorted so we were in games and competitive. Brighton no shot on target and 3 conceded, Spurs lucky to snatch a dodgy penalty call (right decision under the law though) and then sneaking through after penalties against a league 2 team with what was by and large a decent first team squad.

Can't wait for the takeover rumours to start again to deflect from the abuse flying towards Bruce, the players and the owners soon. Get the takeover thread to 2,000 pages.

I read that as a veiled criticism of Benitez, could be wrong.
Either way Shelvey is as thick as mince.

That's exactly it and it's because shelvey didn't get games, so he loves Bruce, but if he's trying to tell me what's being served up is us #playing then he's wasting his time...

If he plays Carroll, then any of his protestations about style will rightly fall on deaf ears. I actually think Carroll looks far better when the ball is played on the floor. His aerial ability to me only really serves a purpose if you are putting crosses in. Like it or not, instructed otherwise or not, when he plays our defenders to a man take it as a green light to lump it. So I don't really care if he is telling them to play, its clear his selection is encouraging them not to.

I have nothing against Carroll but he is surely third/forth choice striker behind Joelinton, Gayle and Wilson right? Credit Bruce he got it spot on against West Ham as we needed a battering ram but against Brighton was completely the wrong selection and If we are going 2 up top it has to be Wilson and Big Joe as he's more mobile. Still think he's a wide inside forward but I'd rather him up top than Carroll for 60-70mins a game.
