Well played lads you did the best that you could. Strange old match. Good luck getting clear of the bottom.
Very frustrating - ALMOST (?!) another point to follow the draw last Saturday. Not helped by certain gloating (actually relieved) RedScousers. Still believe. COYW !!!!!
Who's gloating? We were the better footballing side. Gave you a goal start. You defended very well and we didn't on 2 occassions. You gave us a pen. Sure we're happy - we got away with it. Plus my wishes for the rest of the season were meant. YNWA
I notice Stek went off. Why? Hope the injury isn't too bad as if we have Stockdale in goal for an extended period we are surely doomed as the lads not a premiership keeper.
Listening to Gentleman Jim's commentary; it seems Suarez caught him flush in the face. He was out cold for a minute, stretcher on - but he didn't need it. He had a swollen eye and cut, so was subbed off. I'd imagine he'll be fine for our next match.
Sod it! Sod it! Sod it! Just a wee bit more ball control, just a wee bit more composure..but I'm not going to criticize any of the lads..they gave their all and deserved something from that game. Sod it! Sod it! Sod it!
Unlike Man U we met a team that are at the top of their game at the moment, yes i am gutted but their is optimism, this new format can gain points if they stick to their guns.
Unlucky and again played much better than recent games. Seem to be much quicker in attack and if we continue this play and the addition of Mitro then we will have a good chance against West Brom. As far as I'm concerned we've got one more point than I thought from these last two games and the West Brom game is the important one. Liverpool are a good side this season, very easy easy on the eye. I hate Suarez though but he's a bloody good player and while I'm at it, I can't stand that Sturridge goal celebration. Interesting to see Toure in the flesh. He's quite a lard arse.
I'll say it again why do we have poor second halfs. Again we dropped back and tried to defend so deep, with no outlet up front, and poor passing means the ball is given away in dangerous positions. Do we have too many chiefs in the dressing room at half time, trying to change too much. And the subs again, why Kacaniklic for Richardson ? Kacaniklic can't defend!!!! and Riise needs cover for the full game. Let's hope Stekelenberg isn't out injured for long and back for WBA.
What a game. Second half we seemed to disappear. Holtby didn't get the ball as much, perhaps Liverpool realised this and sorted it out at half time. Another deflected goal, how many goals have we conceded by deflection this season? Still, optimism is revived. I thought we deserved a point. Gutted though.
Why did Richardson go off? Not sure that was the best substitution if I'm honest. Liverpool are a good team, showed why they're up the top of the league. Did we run out of steam? Reither challenge was of a man who had hardly anything left in the tank.
First of all... MOTD, what a setup of monkeys. We were all over Liverpool in the first half but none of that was shown. I have limited respect for this organisation and is reducing further. First half we had motion and the players were covering a lot of space. Holtby could move and Richardson was supporting him going forward together with Tunnicliffe. Second half Liverpool closed the gaps with Gerrard and Henderson at the back. Naturally we started drifting deeper despite Sidwell's efforts to keep the line high. Kvist was very good again but not sure that he can last 90 minutes. The break will be welcome for us as we can work on fitness and maybe another system. My faith to the team is restored. We have a team again of players willing to play football and run the miles.
Precisely the reason I've been boycotting MOTD for the past 18 months. Shocking bias, makes me sick, not to mention the 'analysis' available is, more often than not, dreadful.
Particularly as the next match is a week and a half away. Until we hear otherwise, there's plenty of reason to be optimistic about Stek's face.
Couldn't bring myself to post last night- such a sad way for the game to end, although it was coming and you could almost see the narrative of Liverpool winning ugly and becoming title contenders being written as the game progressed. Credit to Liverpool, they recovered from a dreadful first half with Gerrard's pass and Sturridge's finish the only real positive. It was a good performance from us, although I don't think any of the players knew what to do at 1-0 or 2-1. We invited them back on to us, which was the game plan, and it was unfortunate Sascha decided to go to ground there. It was Coutinho's goal, against the run of play, that turned it. Suarez is an absolute idiot in some respects, although no blame at his feet for Stek challenge, but he is a wonderful player. One flick still sticks in my mind, I didn't get to see the highlights so I'm not sure how he actually did it. Managed to backheel it around his body and turn on it. The only criticism I'd made of Rene is keeping Bent on for the full 90 and subbing Richardson with Kaca. Bent was asked to fill a tough role, he's not a target man and he continues to jump under the ball, missing it often. By 55 mins he was tired, by 70 he was knackered, by the end his movement was limited and the chance that might have fallen to him went just beyond. I think Kaca should have replaced Bent, as we had no other attacking option. He would have given us pace to counter with. Also, Richardson is the more defensively solid of the two, taking him off when we are protecting the lead (and we lost it in the next play, although not as a direct consequence) seemed naive, unless he was injured- but he didn't look it. All positive really - sometimes feel that I'd rather have watched Liverpool take it away from us in the first 5 then have it so cruelly snatched at the end. With no offence intended to any visiting reds who may have stopped by to gloat / commiserate - there was a funny rendition of YNWA being sung at Kenny in the Fulham directors area; "Sign on, Siiiiign oooonnn, With the pen - in youur hand, And you'll never work, You'll never work - a - gain'.
