How far were Chelsea behind at the same stage last season? 8 points after 6 games? And they ended up winning it by 7 points... No point looking at the table until 10 games in or so, that's when the table actually starts taking shape. Agree with the first bit of your post though.
Did you really think you'd be genuine title contenders this season? Not on the wind up, genuine question. I don't see how you could have after failing to address two of your biggest weaknesses.
Absolutely, 100% NOT. We were never going to get evenly remotely close with that defence, that said, \i was hoping to still be thereabouts by Christmas and to make top four by April. You still can't panic after five games (Uniturd had it won according to the press at this stage last season, remember?), but nothing I've seen this season, except one hammering of a woeful Arsenal side, inspires confidence. Even against Hoffenheim, a team who'd really struggle to get into the top half of our league, we were opened up at the back more times than I care to remember.
If you look beyond the "next year" Jokes we don't really think we'll win it every year we just start out hoping it will be the case, to me every football fan should start out the season like that.
Nice to see some sensible attitudes, not everyone is in meltdown. Gutted that we're out and there are clearly problems at the back but on we go and if we can't sort those issues out I pray that we buy in January. It was a solid first half from us but teams know that if they can hang on then we will make mistakes at the back.
I never think the glass is half empty, or half full. I just think which f*cker has drunk half my ale!
Still dont think we deserved to lose last night. We dominated the 1st half and had a fair few chances in the 2nd half. Leicester took their chances well and the 2nd was unstoppable. We were the better team overall. We had a lot of chances and yes not all were on target, but they should have been. A lot of chances were inside the box and within or near the 6 yard box and we should be getting them on target
Of course we deserved to lose. Our finishing was sh*te and our defence awful. Leicester's defence was good and their finishing was excellent. We won the possession stats in the first half mind.
"That we concede like this, that makes me really, really sick," said Klopp. "You cannot play football and do that.' No ****in ****, Sherlock, but I don't see you doing much about it!
He ****ed up taking Coutinho off at HT, if you'd have been a couple up (which you probably should have been) then fair enough, but at 0-0 he should have left him on. If you'd have continued to play in the same manner in the 2nd half you'd have had one drop imo, and then he could have changed it and saved his legs. Instead he handed Leicester the initiative and they were the better side once Okazaki came on. The way you play always gives the opposition chances to score, you're too open and he's showing no signs of altering it.
Of course he's doing something about it, they'll be working on it all the time. The one big mistake he's made is not having a backup for VVD, there's only so much that can be done with the players we have. Unfortunately it'll be too late come January to catch up.
