Klopp explains Henderson and Firmino decisions for derby

Jürgen Klopp has explained why James Milner drops to the bench and Roberto Firmino is among the substitutes at Goodison Park this afternoon.

Jordan Henderson comes into the starting XI for the 233rd Merseyside derby with Everton, while Firmino is fit enough to be part of the squad but Divock Origi continues in attack.

“Millie just felt a little bit his hamstring,” Klopp told Sky Sports.

“If Millie gives a warning sign… I think he would have been fine but the last two days he felt it still. So there is no reason for risk, especially when we have options on the bench, which we had in the last game.

“Hendo is a very, very important player for us, so it’s good he can be back.

“Bobby trained yesterday and it looked really good, so he is on the bench because he could be an option. I didn’t think it was necessary to bring him immediately after the good game we played on Wednesday.

“We’ll try it like this. We have very good options, that’s important.”

Why put him on the bench if he's felt a twinge?

Hendo is going to have to step it up today as he usually performs pretty poorly alongside Gini and Fab. Gini will obviously play further ahead, but are Hendo and Fabinho as a pair? I'd rather just leave Fab there on his own!

Also our bench looks very offensive! Only Milner there really as a defensive choice
