It was exactly as I predicted, including Coutinho scoring. I now expect to see more of that. Fantastic goal
i hardly would give credit for a manager buying a player and playing him.... this is rodgers ball licking of the worst type as frankly this is doing his job... not doing an amazing job.... yeah sure credit in the acceptable performance level column... not the exceptional column.
For totally clear daylight, agreed. For blatent simuLTION Have to agree with this really. It's no shock if a forward improves if the entire team play a much more attacking style at the expense of the defence. Perhaps in the same sentence he should take the credit for turning what was a a pretty solid defensive unit into dogshit!
nah.... i'd not go that far myself. we were dogshit under hodgson.. were ok under dalglish but not all that and actually this year its not total disastrous. he's not improved it that's all.
Our defence last season (The season when Suarez improved), our defence was the worst defence we've had in the last decade. To put it into perspective, we conceded twice as many league goes than in 2005/2006......and 6 more than in 2010/2011 when Roy left us in the lurch (yes, we were even worse than that year!!) BR's first full season was only fractionally better (one goal) in goals conceded than his immediate predecessors and last year was a record low!! This year we stand on 27 already. That's 2 more than in 2005/2006 under Rafa. Remember, he inherited the bulk of that defence.......So yep, dogshit just about sums it up.
You are comparing now to 2006, a season with respect we had ten clean sheets in a row If you simply and more pertinently to others this year our defence is about average, it's lack of goals that's the problem Last year was last year and frankly crazy. This year is different. No gerrard as dm, no diamonds with coutinho and sterling in midfield and two up Frankly with 3 at the back plus two real cms in front and plenty defensively out wide due to right forwards really helping..... Well we did ok at first but didn't get enough and for last 7 games have been in championship form which is a good run It's not all bad But it won't change the fact that we have to be Herod if a decent side turns up to win
Surprised it took you so long to get that one in....very similar defending to Can's challenge against Chelsea except not quite as bad (seeing as there was minimal contact if any). Did you slate Can for that one? Or did you consider the rest of the two games where he didn't put a foot wrong? Same with Skrtel surely. Excellent in both legs against Chelsea and both games against Bolton bar one player taking a dive next to his foot Despite which you had to get the dig in eh.....no credit given for how all 3 centre backs have adapted to a new system? No credit for his monumental efforts against the chavs? No credit for the recent pick up in defensive solidity? Nope...just criticism as usual.
Last year was awful defending. Worst in the last decade. My initial point was: if Rogers is taking credit for Suarez (last year) then it would have more credibility if he also took credit for the leaky defence (also last year). Last year was dogshite. This year started off dogshite but has got better.
I did critcise Can for the penalty he gave away, and I also say he got caught out for that Gudjohnsen chance. But it's amazing how you think Skrtel is amazing but slated Sakho for quite a while. And also - I like to put things into a bit of context. Can is a 20 year midfielder playing in defence and has done little wrong. Skrtel is 30 years old and the most experienced or our back line. If you want to keep making excuses for average mediocre players in this team then fair enough and it's no surprise we;ve underachieved for so long when such players get unwarranted praise. I have criticised the likes of Gerrard playing as a DM, Johnson, Enrique and Lovren playing in defence for the past 2-3 years when others often defend them. Lo and behold, once you take them out, we concede less ... I think I know what I'm talking about.
Rodgers taking credit for Suarez scoring goals even though he's done that all throughout his career ...
I'd forgot about this but realised you'd not come back to me so here's the twelve minutes clip for you... http://talksport.com/football/exclu...-point-liverpools-season-says-brendan-rodgers ...heads up, he mentions Suarez around the 3m 40s mark. Brod's words: "When I came in here two and a half years ago Luis was an outstanding player, over the period of time with his goals and performances, he left here as everyone saw him as a world class player..." At no point does he claim he was responsible for making Luis Suarez a world class player. He is pointing out how players can progress and reach the very top levels if they wish and that Liverpool FC are able to offer a platform for players to do that. PS...apology accepted
