On Mane when he is absent we really miss the "defensive" work he does .

I echo the Mane comments, but we have played without him before and even with Origi standing in and still won several games. No excuse for yesterday just because Mane wasn't there.

We all have our views. For me Mane is the more complete player. He can defend, create, assist and score. Salah is the better scorer. When we are playing well then we don’t miss Mané and Salah puts the ball into the net. Yesterday we missed his energy all over the pitch.

They're a trio. Remove any one of them and the others aren't the same #mediumcog

fully agree that was a truly dreadful performance by pretty much every individual and as a team which is normally our real strength .
Still as least it wasn't as bad as the 6-1 to Stoke as while yesterday was dreadful at least there was no lack of effort unlike the particular disgrace of a performance

    1) if we can see Adrians weakness, so can Koop
    2) who is our third choice keeper and tell him to get warmed up

unfortunately, the youth keeper (kelleher) is really poor from what I’ve seen in the league cup. We’re stuck with Adrian

As bad as Adrian was, the defence and midfield really let us down. Klopp should also take responsibility because he should have changed something - it was clear that the space between midfield and defence, and defence and keeper was just too big. So we should have dropped the line maybe 10 yards, move Gini over to the right to provide more protection. I don't know - it was just a sh*t show and I can't get over it now until the Everton game!

I said about 5 minutes in that Henderson needs to come on, but I guess he wasn't fully fit yet. Still you're right, Klopp should have reacted quicker.

I think once Villa hit about 5, players just gave up

Why is Klopp persisting with this high line defence when it's plain it doesn't work? We've conceded 12 goals (that's how many I've counted) in all comps since the start of the season and a fair few after clinching the title last season. <doh> People were saying well we've won the title, we've relaxed, no biggy, but sorry it's more than that.

Because we've played with a high line for almost two years and won the CL and PL, whilst maintaining a very good defensive record.

I do agree with you that defensive standards have slipped and something needs to be done, but I think this is more due to individual errors rather than system issues. Joe Gomez has been so poor this year and needs to up his game, Trent is also inconsistent.

True about Gomez, he's gash. Van Dijk seems to have lost it, too.

It needs to change now because we've been sussed and it'll keep happening unless something's done.

That's thee squad players. Didn't Everton cry off the derby in March when just a few were showing symptoms, never mind testing positive? Is it time to null and void the league? :emoticon-0112-wonde

Needs to be said. He was captain on Sunday too. There's playing a high line, and there's playing a high crooked line. Then there's playing a high crooked line with the likes of speedsters such as Virgil and Joe not even bothering to run back when that line is broken.

Joe Gomez is a big problem at the moment - his positioning, the timing of his runs, physicality, all of it is really below par now, and it's making everyone else suffer.

Harsh but true. Options are limited though. We should have brought in a quality CB and back up keeper when we had the chance. After that sh1t show against Villa, I am not looking forward to playing Everton who are high on confidence now. That said, we are the champions and I hope there is a big mirror in the dressing room because a lot of our players need to take a long hard look into it
