Cracking game that. Can't believe we broke the PL winning record; 17-0 and Salah with all seventeen! Boom!!!
I watched it and I'm struggling to understand what the hell happened. There's playing **** and then there's whatever that was. My only thought is that giving away a crappy goal so early was our undoing. Meant we were always chasing the game and allowed Villa to pick off our open defence. Villa played it perfectly, pressed to get the first goal and then were brilliant on the break.
Weird. We just went missing in virtually every department. It was clear from the off - We just weren’t at the races at all. Possibly the strangest game I’ve ever watched.
What a **** day. Just when I was enjoying the demolition of MU, our team decide to replicate their result and to be humiliated by a team that had stayed in the premiership by one point. Forget about dominating the league. We could do a Blackburn if we are not careful. A simple winning of the title will do me. It may be a freak result but our defence was woeful. Any attack could yield a goal. We were powderpuff at the front and Adrian looks like conceding any decent shot. I was gutted by our eilimination from the league cup. Did we save our best players for this result and performance? Winning is a habit and so does losing. lessons learnt: Mane and Allison are key to our team. Their replacements do not come anywhere near good enough. AND Everton (and Villa) are now the only top team unbeaten. Don’t laugh when they are mentioned as contenders.
That is dreadful news. Any team with Adrian will not keep a clean sheet. We will need to score at least twice to win a match. Mane and Allison are the 2 players we couldn’t afford to lose.
Well, we kept them down to single figures... Look, I know I'm seen as Mr Negative on here, but ffs. I've said since the end of last season, we need a proper second keeper. This ****er is one step up from Karius. But just a short step at that. Gomez is shot - why the **** have we not got another CB? And Trent just isn't a full back. In fact, not even a defender full stop. Keta is getting more dire with each match, Bobby was just clumsy and had the touch of a frigging elephant, and even Virgil is just not the player he was before the lockdown. But credit to Villa - every time Grealish or Barklay got the ball they seemed capable of passing through our line. It was coming - and I told you. It won't be the last time. We are a one man team that relies on a solid goalie, who is unfortunately injury-prone, Over-hyped beyond belief.
It's gonna be tricky without Alisson for sure. On the one hand today was conclusive proof that we can't play a high line with Adrian in goal. On the other hand, the freak results across the league so far due to the sheer volume of games/ short pre season shows that generally you can't rely on containment - a lot of the mistakes being made are the result of physical and mental fatigue.
