Spot the difference between a decent visiting poster and a Diego.

    I am not dismissing them
I think they have underperformed for the last few seasons
I would imagine they are more than capable of winning the title
I have made no secret of hoping Everton do well (just not as well as us lol)
Much rather they won stuff than the manc clubs lol

Note on Salah. As good as he is, he is not the man to support the kids/ reserves. Sadio is your man for that great defensively and puts a shift in. Salah couldn't be bothered tonight.

Jota on the other hand was fantastic and should have scored a couple. Great option for us

Sadio would have given that passage through to the QFs. The result was all important tonight and I can't help feeling that we just don't have a decent cover for him.

Who was the tall thin lad with the frizzy man bun that played for you tonight?

I have a feeling he will be a really good player in future.

I'm annoyed at the fact that we lost to Arsenal again more than being knocked out of the cup.

With that said, there were a few positives:

    - Grujic was solid and I wouldn't be totally against us keeping him (however I would prefer to see him still)
    - Rhys Williams looked very comfortable tonight
    - For all the abuse he received, Neco played without fear and I respect that. I think he definitely grew into the game.
    - Adrian has also received a lot of sh*t from fans but he was really good as well.

    A few observations:
    - I was expecting more from Jones today. It was a fairly subdued performance from him.
    - Taki struggled to get on the ball but when he does, he has a lovely touch and nice link up play
    - Jota showed promising signs and made some good runs, and probably should have scored
    - Not sure what's wrong with Kostas but having a proper LB is crucial. Milner had a lot of the ball but his delivery was poor and wasn't helped by the fact that he had to stop, turn and get it onto his right foot.

It's a shame that it looks like Shaq is leaving because Wilson and Origi both need to leave before him. Origi's body language alone just screams out that he's not interested anymore. And Wilson was never going to make it for us.

Agree with this, Williams (cb) was very good, you can see why we are not massively keen on spending money on a 4th choice.

I thought jones suffered from a very congested area of the pitch, plus Wilson was anonymous for the entire match. We had very little control over the midfield.

Although I really like the look of williams(rb) he still plays like an excited 13 year old. Wants to beat players and go on runs, which is all very well but he needs to know when to do this and when to just keep possession.

Adrian was boss, I gave him dogs abuse, but I was very upset. For a number 2 he's spot on.

All in all a scrappy match, which can only be expected with a thrown together team. There seemed no clear idea of what they where supposed to do. Press, stand off, spin around there wasnt a clear game plan.

Of course we have to accept the result as there isn’t anything we can do now and have to look forward to other trophies. However I can’t help reflecting on an opportunity lost for this great team to add more silverware to its collection.

Like you rather disappointed with Jones. This was a stage for him to shine but I thought he was under par.

I’ve got quite a few gooner mates and some (not all) are lauding it over me this morning. I don’t get it. They played a team that included 2 kids and an old midfielder in the back four, second keeper and a midfield consisting of two players clearly being put into the shop window....as well as two/three second team strikers.

not only that but this team of B or C team players, pretty much outplayed them for 80% of the match. But for an outstanding display of keeping and some poor finishing, they’d have been tanked. Any other day and we win easily.

I am over the moon with our performance - squad depth is excellent except at CB but we won’t go there now...

Neco reminds me of Adam Lallana. Looks stylish on the ball but lacks the substance and intelligence. Hopefully it will come in time ...
