Was going to ask where this all came from? Williams is quality and only 19. Love that we have good back up for Trent
He got a **** load of abuse, mainly from twitter, there's an element (fifa kids imho) on twitter that are #fsgout and neco is just next in line after Lovren, Adrian, Bobby, Shaqiri, karius.... All clubs have them on twatter, fifa kids who always need a scapegoat Obviously these younger players are more on social media than thier older teammates, if I was Klopp I'd say get off the phone and keep your head in the game. Kids gonna need to be more mentally strong or stay off the Internet.
Mainly for supposedly being at fault for a goal. I dont see it as a problem tbh, it's a tiny portion of liverpool's twitterati, all clubs have the same fifa kid element to some extent. Like i said, Klopp should tell him to get off the phone and get his head in the game. I get why lijnders addressed it in his presser but I think that was more for necos benefit rather than any hope of stopping that particular element from abusing players after games. They ain't worth thinking about tbh same kinda people who were screaming fsg out 2weeks ago cos we hadn't signed anyone. Its a non issue for me, neco can fix this really easily, stay off the phone and up your game.
They're either children or adults with the mental age thereof. However, staying off your phone seems to be an increasing impossibility these days. Many people, not just the younger ones, don't seem to be able to put them down. For the generation of some of our younger players social media have become a way of life and I doubt many would want to isolate themselves in that way. The internet is a fantastic resource, but it's also an easy means of cowardly bullying, harassment and criminal activity. How you use it reflects your personality, I suppose.
To be fair, he was ****. But no one should be sending him abuse directly (or to any player for that matter). This is the problem with social media - I don't condone the behaviour of idiots, but unfortunately this is part and parcel of being at a club like LFC and being in the spotlight. Not saying he needs man up because this it's awful, but he does need to realise this comes with the territory and it's up to him to step up.
I'm in the minority but I don't think he's not ready to be Trent's back up yet. Going forward, he has the technique and can whip in a ball but is still very raw and I'm sure it will improve. The issue at the moment is the lack of intelligence. His positioning, his runs, and aimless crossing is what will hinder him if he doesn't;t improve. Defensively, he's all at sea and has been in every game he's played for us. For me, this is the bigger concern but having said that, Trent was pretty similar at that age. Shouldn't be writing him off but he definitely needs to show more.
you are not wrong there. he's done well but has to take another step form here to be a player. We've backed him hugely by selling Ki.
Thing with Williams is we were sort of spoiled with TAA. He came in and almost immediately nailed down that position and looked comfortable. Williams looks like a typical young player. Moments of good and bad but like klopp said at weekend v arsenal, don’t mind players taking risks because in our team and system generwlly the rewards outweigh the negatives. So yes players are gonna give the ball away at times, get caught out of possession but for each time that happens, might create more chances for ourself. He looks like TAA did in that he’s better going forward than back but you don’t be a great defensive full back at 19 years old.
