Klopp is trying to win the league. We have tightened up defensively but there has been an inevitable trade off in our attacking play. Clearly the balance between attack and decence needs work. Much was expected from Keita and Fabinho. We are unbeaten without much contribution from either. It will take time.
If it's on target then it's a goal if it isn't saved. Hitting the woodwork and coming out again isn't going to result in a goal, aka not on target.
Only saw the MOTD highlights and i cba to trawl back thru the thread but i take it we didn't play that well again by the recent posts.
Definitely did that. I seriously don't understand the idea of bringing a extra defender in in the dying minutes. It's inviting pressure whilst we not only have a 'not up to speed' player (the defender introduced), we've disrupted the entire defensive shadow by adding a extra player. It's begging to concede imo
I know ours could have gone down as lucky with deflection etc it was more in reply to mito saying arsenal was unlucky Could you not use the same lame excuse for Arsenal? Shoulda coulda etc. You only seem intent on saying how unlucky arsenal was when we was just as unlucky.
So you've said he assumed. How can a man on a glimpse live make a call... he has to its his job to. He knew mane was originally offside. So he made a call. As I said last night, this is actually a VAR discussion. He made a call. I've no issue that he got it wrong at all. Without VAR these things do happen....weekly... but not just to Lfc. We are ignoring the issues we saw with out tactics and with certain players cos its easier blame an offside call than see where were are deficient. 1. Hope people saw what I saw about fabinho now. 2. Hope people realise that our tactics were exploited at various times, milner on left for example disrupted our shape really badly and arsenal attacked us on opposite side.. firmino was pulled back to a no 10 role almost midfield and we started to create but we then had gaps wide and thry switched to attack us there.
Which we haven't got. City are simply getting better and better, and Chelsea are at least as good. No complaints - we're a far superior team than the one Klopp inherited, but be realistic: we're not running fast enough to catch up, let alone keep up.
Think the next time we do that we should use JoGo as a DM. seriously, he has everything to play that role. I'm made up with him at CB, but a three man CB line just doesn't work for us (remember WBA last season ?).
That's why thry didnt win.. They coulda and shoulda. Why are we focused on 3 chances bad had but ignoring aubameyang or a terrible mkhitaryan effort... and saying an offside decision robbed us
I've no issue with getting calls wrong so long as they've done their job to the best of their ability, they're only human afterall. His positioning is the problem. Being a yard or two behind would be understandable but look at that picture, he's 8-10 yards behind play! Our tactics were definitely wrong but Klopp said as much in his interview. He said we'd changed formation which meant the press wasn't there. That's where we lost control imo, we allowed them time and invited them to attack / press us instead.
I don't think city are that much better. I think they are just in form and s3cretly we all know We are not quite right. If we had the defence of this season with last year's scoring we would be set but we dont
Still say it's not his positioning but his knowledge. No ****ing way could he not see that Mane is behind that ball.
He's concentrating on catching up with play and finds himself in a position (Not physically) where he's got to make a decision without knowing the answer (because he wasn't looking or able to see)
So he can cover 8 yards in one second? He's in line not in blocks ready to sprint. He's done his job on first call and then has to get get moving back for second. I would contend that not many linesman could get back anywhere near level in the time that developed. I think klopp has more sense than our fans anyway.... thank ****. He's trying everything to get something going and it's just not coming from these midfielders. It does depress that he then says he wont be buying in january.
I'm hoping your just being argumentative here rather that a ****ing moron He was five yards ahead of Firmino when the ball was played. He was 8-10 yards behind when Bobby shot. You seriously think Bobby (who's not the quickest) is 13-15yrds A SECOND (your claim) faster than the lino? The lino stands still when the ball is passed rather than following play. That is why he's not able to make a call (other than guessing) on the offside.
From the angle he sees it it would appear that Mané was even further behind the ball than he was. I just think he got it wrong - he isn't in line so just made a judgement. There's only Diego arguing that it was offside, and we all know better than to take any notice of him.
