"VOTE" or "NO VOTE"?

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by Livtor, Sep 7, 2014.

?

Should we vote to help determine LFC-not606 board thread statuses?

  1. Yes - we should draft some inclusive choices and let LFC members vote their preference

  2. No - let the mods do their work as they have been doing

Multiple votes are allowed.

    I pop back in to see what? A bunch of girls arguing over what a traffic warden should mean <doh>

    If in GB you call a parking officer a traffic warden, that's your problem. Anywhere in the commonsensical world, parking means parking, not traffic <ok>

    I propose a vote on your behalf that you should rectify your usage of the word <laugh>

  5. Incorrect Liv, you are using a very much English speaking forum where most of the users would call such a person a Traffic Warden. The fact that you misunderstood an analogy due to this difference triggering this conversation suggests it is in fact your problem IF anyones. However, in reality, no one really gives a flying **** as its not a problem at all, its a misunderstanding. The issue is more around your insistence that you are yet again 100% correct <doh>

    Love bade me welcome, yet my soul drew back,
    * * * * Guilty of dust and sin.
    But quick-ey'd Love, observing me grow slack
    * * * * From my first entrance in,
    Drew nearer to me, sweetly questioning
    * * * * If I lack'd anything.

    "A guest," I answer'd, "worthy to be here";
    * * * * Love said, "You shall be he."
    "I, the unkind, the ungrateful? ah my dear,
    * * * * I cannot look on thee."
    Love took my hand and smiling did reply,
    * * * * "Who made the eyes but I?"

    "Truth, Lord, but I have marr'd them; let my shame
    * * * * Go where it doth deserve."
    "And know you not," says Love, "who bore the blame?"
    * * * * "My dear, then I will serve."
    "You must sit down," says Love, "and taste my meat."
    * * * * So I did sit and eat.*

    The second layer of irony is that fluffy superficialities totally overshadowed the meaning of my point to Garlic Bread: that traffic controllers (mods in the analogy) have gone mostly out of use due to more efficient and accurate traffic light systems. Hapless stuff. Really hapless stuff.

    No mate that's what you've got wrong. You were disputing his analogy based on the incorrect understanding of what he meant by traffic wardens (not controllers, that's your word not his)

    His and our understanding of people who keep traffic flowing by removing or penalizing illegal parkers is apt to his view of the job of mods.

    As these people have not been replaced by traffic lights ( because traffic lights dont give parking tickets) your attempt to refute his anaology was based on an incorrect interpretation of his post..Irony was non existent.

    Just admit you got it wrong and if you hadn't been trying to be so smart arse you could have just said I don't agree with your idea of what a mods job is.....but no, you had to sneer once more......

    Your analogy used an incorrect term, and despite being pulled up on it by me, instead of doing what a normal person might do i.e. Google the term and ensure that they were correct, you - being the arrogant bell that you are, continued to plough on regardless, convinced you were right. Now it's the fault of English parlance <laugh> absolute joke you lad.

    But traffic controllers don't deal with that......lol...

    Should we even go into what traffic control brings to mind over here when said because I haven't a clue what airplanes would do to this discussion......:D

    I commend the mods on this board for their tolerance. i visit many boards on this site and cannot think of another where they would put up with two threads and 24 pages of vitriol against other posters and the way the board is run. you have the patience of saints sirs <applause>
