Yeah I thought it would be counted as Swansea East, as it's just a mile away, and of course Neath starts about a mile the other way
the biggest thing for me seeing the right wing getting back in, would be the alarming fact that people only consider their pocket these days and im worried as 2where our childrens children will end up and under what conditions we are setting and continue 2 create for them..........equality and health seems 2 be a last thing people want as long as im alright jack (no pun intended). will we ever learn and try 2 enjoy our journey in this short life rather than fighting for position on a constant basis
Easier said than done here ? "The Budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed, lest Rome will become bankrupt. People must again learn to work instead of living on public assistance." - Cicero, 55 BC
The constituency loosely follows the area of the "Lordship of Gower" - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lordship_of_Gower
Yeah possibly, if nothing else I think it would certainly be a swing Con/Lab seat. With a tendency to be predominantly Conservative... It's been close to going Tory for most of the last 60 years, apart from the 'New Labour' days. Didn't realise also, that Swansea West was Conservative once in the early 60's, thought it had always been Labour or Liberal..
You realise of course that people who work actually get benefits in the form of tax credits, so perhaps it should be that employers learn how to pay a living wage instead of the tax payers supplementing their business as they pay people not enough to live on. As for foreign aid, we can't just bury our heads in the sand, we recently had the Tibet earthquake, do you suggest that our government do nothing? If cuts are made, tell me exactly where you want those cuts?
The problem with foreign aid is we pay around £21m a day and quite a lot of that is mismanaged by the countries we give too. .I would stop all aid to anyone until they have been means tested like the poor in the UK have to go through before getting any benefit......When it comes to natural disasters then it goes without saying that we should help and all parties have agreed to that over the years.....£140+m is a lot to give away every week and not knowing where it is going too....
do what we do Dai regarding foreign aid, we decide where it is going and what projects will happen (in theory).
Well they failed on 50 of their last promises so I don't see any reason why the lying conning pricks will hold true to their word this time
They wont have an easy ride not with the majority they have.....it's going to be very interesting and will be hard to do the full 5 years.....
They don't want to leave Europe they never have. Cameron has been brilliant saying he will give a referendum Knowing that labour are pro European and the country are more pro than anti......There is no chance that we will leave Europe and Cameron who is pro Europe knows this fully well...Its a win win situation for the Tories and brilliantly played by Cameron....
Well I don't want to leave the EU, I never have. In fact I want the UK to join the Euro at some point when its advantageous for us to do so. The reason is I don't want closer ties with the States as I feel we won't have a voice with them, the special relationship thing is a joke and it means nothing to us.
Most of my life I voted Liberal because I regarded the old style Libs as more socialist than the Labour Party. However I did not vote for them this time as Clegg sold them down the river to further his own career. I voted to go into Europe as a common market not to have unelected civil servants in Brussels, who we can't get rid of, passing laws and restrictions that we can't get rid of and are nothing to do with trade. This is why I voted UKIP this time. If Cameron holds a referendum on Europe he will load the question so that he gets the answer he wants. Not one party addressed the reason why we are having difficulty funding the NHS, Education etc That is the government are not able to collect enough tax because so many people are in low income jobs. The jobs the Tories boast about creating are indeed mostly low paid retail jobs. We need to start recreating jobs that manufacture everyday things such as clothes etc which have pretty well gone abroad. Manufacturing tends to pay higher wages than retail. How we do this I don't know but then I am not paid megabucks to come up with the answer. Most parties policies are 85% the same so we all voting on the 15% difference. Finally history shows all empires have descended into corruption at their end and ours is no different.
Thing is most aid goes through international charities, so it's not corrupt governments getting the aid. Though obviously there is a huge amount that goes through various black holes , which should be closed. Most aid is used for education and health, so cutting aid can have serious unforeseen consequences, for example if you cut health it can lead to disease and endemics that could lead to even further refugees and immigrants trying to get away from where they are. Helping to fix problems in the country they are in is surely a way to keep people living there. I know thats a simplistic way to put it, but we can't just ignore the third world, I mean we created the problem to begin with. I do agree that cutting aid to India for example should be done, they have an economy that doesn't need it
I totally agree Contrary to what many said on here, I actually found her totally embarrassing in the leaders debate. If Plaid is the future of Wales and she is the leader then I will take the monster raving looney party and Gower's candidate Baron Von Claptrap any time. She reminds me of the (the way she speaks) of the waitress in Stella series 2. 'Teeeaaa Pleeaaasssee'
If the Scottish get their independence maybe we will need to save our foreign aid for them incase they struggle ?
