"Sandro is on the shortlist for the prestigious 'Samba de Ouro' - the Samba Gold Trophy.

The trophy is presented to the best Brazilian player in European football.

The midfielder made a real impact in his first season at Spurs in 2010-11 and was a key player as we progressed to the quarter-finals of the Champions League and finished fifth in the Premier League.

His stand-out performances came against AC Milan in the Champions League but he continued to improve as the league season progressed - capping it with a wonder goal at Chelsea.

That form got him into Brazil's squad for this summer's Copa America where he was unfortunately injured and he's just back to full fitness back at Spurs.

It's the fourth year of the trophy and the shortlist of 30 includes another four Brazilian players plying their trade in the Premier League - Lucas at Liverpool, David Luiz and Ramira at Chelsea plus Fabio at United.

Barcelona's Daniel Alves, Porto striker Hulk and players who we faced in last year's Champions League including Marcelo of Real Madrid, Thiago Silva and Robinho of AC Milan are also there.

The winner is selected after a vote involving former Brazil international legends, journalists and fans."

For the record, I voted:
Sandro
Hulk
Pato (was a toss up between him or Lucas of 'Pool)

Sandro, Ramires, Lucas.

Lucas will probably win, as Liverpool fans hammer this sort of thing.

Why the **** is Fabio on there?

Don't get me wrong, I love Sandro, but the best Brazilian in European football?

In fairness he's probably not the best there's definitely not many better in my eyes. Still my Spurs allegiance and pure bias means if he doesn't win it, it's a complete fix!

I thought that Neymar would be a shout for that, seems to be the latest Brazilian all the top clubs want.

...I see a pun here! <whistle>
