DoF is bull. 1. important role is academy director who should ensure coaching structures from top to bottom in academy is correct. 2. important role is manager who hires all coaches at senior level. 3. important role is head of scouting. 4. important role is CEO/MD or what ever you want to call it who hires all financial staff and should be running these negotiations with targets. When you take all these powers and throw them into one role you degrade every other role in the club and while maybe you get one vision there's no way that in the game you get the talent in senior coaching to follow that vision. lets be frnak RA at chelsea and moratti at inter are perfect examples of guys with "visions" these guys back their clubs buy buy who they want and sack who they want and frankly by the time they are done their clubs are not generating young talent and never achieve cos they cycle managers on a whim. If you look at the money put into chelsea year on year the fact that utd have been back on top shows that they've actually under achieved despite winning things. chelsea should be dominating like lfc i nthe 80s or utd in the 90s... city are just amatuer hour, they put all the money in under hughes and then they have bought big names paid passive massive wages and only half did the project thus leaving mancini in charge with gareth barry in midfield! no a DoF is just another layer when you really want 4 good men working together in the above roles.
