Nothing better than a banquet and a couple of pints before the game. Oh well, suppose I'll just have to go to the chippie now.................

On a related note, I have been an afficianado of the chippie in Floyd Road for years , you can't beat a pre match spam fritter. Last Saturday a sausage and chips was £3.80. Its not just the Valley catering that takes the p-as.

I think that there are those of us with our 'heads in the sand' and there are those of us that see us as doomed. As per any fight/disagreement/situation that you do not know the full extent / details of its best to take the line of being somewhere in the middle (not sitting on the fence, but analysising the FACTS and maybe considering the PERCEIVED FACTS) before wabbling and falling on one side of the 'fence' or other).

Every good counter argument I have read on other boards has lead to personal attacks, snidey remarks etc, whereas on here (currently) there is room for reasoning and DEBATE.

I wont go over it all as its been discussed above, but there are always two sides to every story - or in this case two 'reasons' for every decision

Running down of contract - cant afford Vs waiting for better deals for the CLUB (afterall we had a whole reshuffle 2 years ago)

Lots of 'Senior' Staff Leaving / redundancies Vs Management wanting their own Senior Staff in place (creating a working environment where people resign is a lot cheaper than redundancies etc - please dont turn this into ethical / moral debate!)

Anyway, heres to a grown up debate with any further developments from the club!

Was hugely shocked at the prices when I went to get some Food and Drink behind the East Stand before the match on Saturday... Half the stuff is gone (always liked the bacon roll) and a coke is well over double the price in a newsagent

Surely Charlton are pricing themselves out here as well???

I know we're all Charlton fans but its like Welling tonight... England v Scotland on the TV and they re-arrange the game with Cambridge because they had a game on Sunday (their part-time opposition from that game played last night as well) - How much money in attendance will that set them back

yeah, if they take your lid, you should at least get some sort of discount(?!)

i dont buy food there now as often as i used to. the price of the season ticket went up so i had to make the savings somewhere... i did buy a flask from the club shop though and now take my own tea. its all profit after 4 cups!

they need to re-evaluate the pricing. maybe go cheaper with the aim of filling more of the ground, which leads to more food and shirts being sold. its hard to really know if it'll happen without them trying, although the £5 games should give them some sort of clue.

Agreed, AllHell - very fine post. Welcome TF. Nice monicker. <ok>

It's a very easy job moderating on this site. We have our moments on here, but by and large, the debate is well thought out, the topics diverse, there's plenty of humour and any scuffles are usually settled in a gentlemanly fashion.

That doesn't mean we lack passion, we're just able to articulate our joy, rage, exasperation and goodness knows how many other emotions that this club provokes in us in a way that doesn't need to resort to invective, streams of bad language or serious personal insult.

    Love it on here.

Yes welcome newbies. A solid debut and most welcome comments particularly about me because I'm so great.

One or two things to mention here is the excellent work put in by the moderators super & tewks who have ran this forum with an even hand, shown considerable common sense and diplomacy no matter what I say to ruin it. It should be remembered that everyone has a point of view and that should be respected unless it is opposite to what I think.

I have once been on CL with the moniker brown trousers, I lasted 3 posts. My expirience was simarlar to that scene in American Werewolf in London where the two boys walk into the slaughtered Lamb pub, the talking stopped, the heads turned, and the dart hit the wall. It was like when I first met the in laws. Very scarey and your not quite sure if you should say "Hi give me six"

I'm not going to ask you where you got this from dick, but what do you understand that the word 'suspended' means?

Because what it means to me indicates that it doesn't involve our current financial predicament at all.

Can you clarify the position at all?

Do we know why Paul has been suspended, I heard a rumour that he was putting real beef in the burgers. I can't say this is enough to frag the board yet. I have a limit though, the moment the board axe Floyd and Harvey I will be livid and ready for anything. You imagine trying to get a job when all you got on your cv is previous expirience "big pussy"

    @ typical

You may be unaware that I myself am subject to a life ban from CL, although it doesn't stop me. I too have noticed the warm welcome that the regulars give newcomers. About as warm as an Eskimos wotsits. CL reminds me of the hideous village shop in League of Gentleman, do you remember...." this is a LOCAL shop for LOCAL people".

I agree that Tewks is the true gentleman of Charlton website moderators. I have this vision of him wearing a plum coloured velvet smoking jacket whilst moderating, a cigarillo clenched betwen his teeth. I bet he is a dead ringer for Terry Thomas.

Vol, I have always admired how you have achieved such infamous status on that board, I can just keep training and hope that one day I will get there to. Like you (probably) I never intended to be controversial or seek to WUM but the locals just are completely paranoid and suspicious of anyone that has a comment to make which is outside of their prescribed comfort zone of discussing how to take over the club on a fiver and a totally sexist and inappropriate "would ya" section, which is better titled "you couldn't manage it mate, if you had a million pounds and a bag full of rhyprinol"

You people are obsessed with CL, you have been rejected by them get over it. Is it the moderators you object to? Because there are hundreds of people, all different, who post on there, do you object to them all? I have never known a forum to create such vitriol and jealousy. It is only a football forum chaps, I find the diverse views expressed by a number of posters stimulating. I have never had a problem with any of the moderators or posters. It is the best Charlton Forum by a country mile.

    Steady Dicky
I always enjoy your contributions on CL, and the other 48 Charlton sites you are a member of, but maybe you should try a little experiment on your next visit to the CL site ? My suggestion is to start a thread entitled "Chris Powell is quite a good manager". Then see what happens
