Lost my specs the day before yesterday. Only need them for close up work like reading but I hadn't been outside my garden gate since I last remember having them. Turned the house upside down and turned the garage inside out yesterday but no luck - the wife was going potty. Sent the dogs out into the garden on a sniffing trail but they were bloody useless. Happened to go down this morning to where I keep a watering can to dilute the dog pee on the lawn (when I catch the little buggers doing it) - I hate those brown dead grass spots that they cause. Lent over to pick up the can and a pen I had loose in my top shirt pocket fell out into a small shrub. Bollocks I thought, I'd better get it back - and what do you think? There in the little shrub was my pen - and right next to it were my specs - I must have done exactly the same with them but hadn't noticed. Well we need something to talk about before our big new signings are announced.....
Shirt pockets!!!! Pens!!!! What sort of retired gentleman (and I use that in the loosest sense of the word) are you?
The shirts are casual cheapos from Tu @Sainsburys, and the pen was one of a Bic pack from Wilkies - I know how to live the sophisticated retired life. What would have broken my heart would have been forking out a couple of hundred quid for new glasses.
Shirts!?!?!? We used to have to peel a hedgehog and wear the skin inside out as a vest - if we're lucky
You win Clingo. Excellent!!! I have no retort to that. Other than you must have been a very small child and difficult to grab hold of.
My reading glasses are £1.50 over readers. Before I retired, most of my scruffy gardening / working at the small holding were casual stuff that had got a bit scruffy. Now I spend more time in scruffies than anything else. As a result I have to BUY scruffies. T-Shirts at £5 for 2, jeans at £16 for 2 pairs. Never mind Sainsburys, Asda is my current brand.
This morning i was going down stairs to the garage and half way down i thought was i going down or coming up,in the end i gave up and went and had a cup of tea,old age is a terrible thing but better than being back at school.
