In 1986 he closed down his Fleet Street printworks and dismissed all his employees overnight without notice. On relocating to Wapping, he refused to recognise any Trade Unions, and only took on employees who agreed not to join a union.
I have not bought a News International publication since then, but the list of morally bankrupt behaviour only began at that point, it certainly didn't end there. The phone hacking scandals - remember Millie Dowler? - happened at one of his publications, as did the execrable coverage of Hillsborough.
