MS fixes stuff in days, Apple takes many months to fix stuff as they just deny it exists in the 1st place. You do know that apple uses the exact hardware a windows machine uses but they just charge you £500 more because its shiny?
And so the PC / Mac battle begins....! I use Firefox and Trend Micro - the work well enough together to let me look at some interesting sites without seeming to get infected
Thank you all for your help - I will investigate Malware and using Chrome, which we do use Chrome in the office. I am relieved that there doesn't seem to be a serious problem with viruses and trojans here
I might add we have AVG on the home maxhine - it did catch and neutralize (for lack of a better verb) the 22 we got but it was my first experience with viruses.
An IT programmer in our shop suggested using the free Microsoft Security Essentials product, rather than Norton, AVG, McAfee etc. and the past couple couple of years it seems catch any nasty stuff out there. It is also compatible with all Microsoft operating systems and Internet Explorer browser versions and doesn't use up too much in the way of resources, slowing the computer down etc. with constant scans. Also, always make sure you upload any Micropsoft updates as they become available.
I'm not a tech but Mick is,(site owner), but I am on here every day for most of the day. I have a very old lap top with AVG, that's it and have no problem whatsoever. None of the other boards are telling me there is a problem, Mick is not telling me there is a problem, I don't see a problem so there is no problem with this site. I do however understand that no matter how many times we say it some just like problems so wont believe it.
Uhh browsing this site this morning I got a load of viruses and a very angry IT support team calling me! Something clearly embedded here. Having to post this from my fone, as I don't want that happening again.
TBH its getting a little annoying now, we have uses from all over the world, on the Sunderland forum its all over the UK, USA, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Holland, Germany, Canada, France, Spain to mention just a few. Many members use their work PC's and not one, I repeat not one complaint of a problem. Mick looks after security and he has spent heavily on security software and again not one problem reported. Strange how this nasty virus only affects this board.
Good advice although the same result can be acheived by putting Linux instead of Windows on the computer with zero cost involved.
