And why should it; surely winning the ball is no excuse to make a reckless challenge that could injure someone. Not saying that is the case here, but surely the referee has to consider if the tackle is showing due regard to a fellow player's safety.
Fully agree but the reason I was astonished was because the Football Media go such great lengths to see whether the studs actually slightly touched the ball before crashing into the other players shin or whether he went for the ball in the first place that I had always assumed it was relevent.
