Obviously massive passion to see you go joint top of the table today? Can't beat an enthusiastic fan base
Why do football fans worry about how many other people support their team...makes no odds to me, if I have empty seats either side of me I see it as a bonus.
It doesn't worry me one iota, WCP, but it astounds me the apathy shown by the Suffolk 'faithful' on the day their team has the chance to go top of the league? Especially as the ground holds 30,000?
He has got a hell of a lot of stick but he has had a nightmare task there and still gotten respectable results. With how they spend, to keep them up has been impressive, let alone sometimes a playoff bid. Some of the stick he gets when his hands are tied. I'm surprised he hasn't walked by now. Credit to him.
I can see ITFC getting bigger crowds at PR if they continue their present run of form. Always been admirer of Mick MCarthy says it how it is without causing major upsets.
I'm not sure I accept that if Pinto is injured the only option is to play Martin, but if Farke see's it that way then that is a problem of his own making. The decision to retain Martin both as a player & captain was assumedly Farke's as was the decision not to purchase appropriate cover. Clearly we shouldn't be playing Pinto if he's not fit, but that raises the issue of why he played / played for so long against QPR. But if we accept what you say then that Farke had little choice than to play Martin it brings into question whether this was the right game to introduce Stiepermann to the starting 11. Personally I would start with Jerome over Oliveira and bring on Oliveira in the later stages of the game when Jerome has worn down the oppositions defense, so for me the decision to start Jerome and not Oliveira is not an issue. Equally I wouldn't have started with Hoolahan who is not up to having 2 decent games in a week, sometimes not even 1. Again I think if we are going to play Hoolahan then it should be as a sub, personally for me Hoolahan is too inconsistent, particularly as the season goes on. Surely if anyone is up to playing 270 minutes in a week it should be a young keen fit 20 year old, but again if that was the concern then Maddison could have been brought off part way through the QPR game. Farke could have of course started Maddison and not played him for the full game. I agree it's early days and everyone is learning. We on this forum are merely discussing the issues / concerns in public, I'd like to think Farke and his team are doing the same, but in private, if not then I really would be concerned.
I can see why Cromer wanted to divert the conversation away from our decent run of results and onto attendance numbers! It's about time us long suffering supporters had something to feel really good about and I shall enjoy it for as long as it lasts! What is even more remarkable is that the team is winning despite our horrific injury list. We are down to the bare bones in defence with all of our Centrebacks injured so the youngsters brought in have stepped up to the mark along with players playing out of position. I know that you will soon begin to pick up some form so the Old Farm Derby in October will be a cracker and we owe you boys a beating big time!
Before the season began I was resigned to this being a rebuilding season starting from square one yet again. You can't change the whole system, bring in 9 new first team players, most of whom have never played in this league and expect to compete for the top places. Yesterday 7 of those started and it showed. It's now a question of how long all this will take to gel. Martin was the only old player in the back 6 so he is playing with players new to him as well. Given the injuries, it was an understandable result. The cup game should provide a chance to rebuild confidence and a good result at Millwall will help as well.
Great post JWM and I don't blame you for basking in the glory of your lofty league position. Unless we start improving and SOON, you could quite easily still be above us by the time of the Old Farm Derby. Edit - I've just seen this by the erstwhile Gary Gowers on MFW and I felt that this para was particularly pertinent to some regular posters on here - "Yet we must hold our collective nerve and keep the toys in the pram. When the fixtures were announced most considered it a difficult opening and so it’s proved. Now’s not the time for a meltdown." Full article here and some excellent comments after - http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter...-faithful-and-lessons-aplenty-for-team-farke/ PS - Paddy's player ratings from yesterday and at long last he seems to have been to Specsavers, though I would expect anyone who was at the game would rate the players slightly lower. - Angus Gunn7.5 Russell Martin. 5.5 Christoph Zimmermann 5.0 Marcel Franke. 5.5 James Husband 5.5 Harrison Reed 6.5 Marco Stiepermann 6.5 Mario Vrancic 6.0 Steven Naismith. 6.0 Josh Murphy 7.5 Cameron Jerome 5.5 City substitutes Wes Hoolahan 6.0 Nelson Oliveira 7.0 As you can see, pretty dismal ratings for all our defenders!!!
Maybe the £300k and free transfer German 2nd division players we signed will not be good enough at this level no matter how long we wait ? Half of the new permanent signings appear to be duds.
A lot of 4's, 5's and 6's in this start. Husband and Franke in particular seem consistently poor. Really hope they find some form soon.
