Watkins played as a striker 13 times for Barnsley last season, so he could be considered our 3rd striker. He has also played as a second striker twice for us this season and as a lone striker late in games. Wildschut also played there for Wigan. I'd like to see Watkins up front in the cup.

 

In the absence of anyone else Rick, I think you might just get your wish .....

 

Now you mention it, I believe we did - not sure he'd feature tomorrow though.

I had a look into that the other day. Nothing official either way, but he wasn't in the squad for the last U23 game. Whether that means he's unfit or unsigned, I can't see him being involved in the first team any time soon.

I think FML mentioned it, the lack of steel in our midfield is a concern. Reed isn't the strongest in the tackle, but he's miles ahead of the rest of the midfielders who have started for us. Even Tettey isn't a midfielder who scares the opposition. We've not really had that bite since Bradley Johnson.

So the wishlist is currently a CB, LB, RB, DM and striker. 10 days? Easy!

 

You haven't got any CBs you don't want for a few weeks have you? Oh and a couple of MFs would be good, we are missing 11 players right now.

Really pleased at the way Josh has responded to his chances this season after his strong finish in the later matches last season. Watkins made a good case for being our 3rd striker with his goal and an assist and Trybull getting a debut goal was a nice way to round things off. 20 shots, 9 on target is a good response to the Villa disappointment.

 

And let's not underestimate Charlton - they beat high-flying, table-topping, half-empty, non-spending Ipsquit 6 - 1 at the end of pre-season, for some perspective.

 

And we "did the double" over them having beaten them 2-0 at The Valley in a Pre-Season Friendly. Next stop Champions League !!

 

They thrashed us 6-1 in a pre season friendly!
