Lawrenson's logic is flawless. He goes by the gut feeling that a team playing well out of his limited sphere of imagination and understanding, must lose at some point. So it has to be Aston Villa, just to get the tension of it off his mind. He takes no heed of Saints having the meanest defence by half the goals conceded against an incredibly goal-shy Villa. There may come a point where he will predict that Saints will lose against an U11 five-a-side team because losing must happen one day. All this distorted logic doesn't apply to Chelsea, of course. Sounds good to me.
We are nailed on favourites. The bookmakers and stats sites will reflect it. The stats are crazy for this game. Villa have scored 1 goal in 7 games, with 6 losses and 1 draw. We have kept four consecutive cleans sheets in the league, winning all four. The logical prediction is that we will control the game and win 2-0.
Much as Lawro irritates me he at least states what so many on here have said about Rodgers (non)use of SRL. You do feel he will continue to predict we will lose, until we do, just to say "there, told you".
I think it will be a end to end high scoring game. We'll be leading 3-1 with Villa grabbing a late one to make is a shakey end to the game. (3-2 win for us)
If we get an early goal I think we will score 3+ to nil. Saints just don't take their foot of the gas and if Villa have to come at us to get something they could be in for a hard night
