Aston Villa boss Remi Garde: "I feel humiliated. I am sorry for the fans who came to Villa Park. Before the game you could expect the two team were not on the same level, but after 15 minutes, I don't know what happens. The first two goals were difficult to digest and my team did not play anymore.

"This is a bad feeling that we did not fight enough, it was very easy for Liverpool. The fighting spirit, I was expecting that but we did not deliver it.

"I was not expecting this kind of match and we have to go for the next win now. Until we have little hope, we will still believe. After a game like today, it is difficult but we won't play Liverpool every day.

"I understand [the fans' frustration] I don't know who let down who in this football club. I am trying to concentrate on my job and working with the players who want to fight."

    Makes no sense to me.

He should be given less chance under the current manager based on how much he was bought for under the previous manager?

Klopp should work his magic on him and turn him into a defender. Might be worth a try <laugh>

He's going to be kicking himself they didn't do better business with the Benteke money and getting a proven PL manager in.

Big club to go down, the money years ahead and they've fluffed their lines. He must be fuming tbh!

They only stayed up for the last 2 seasons due to Benteke's goals.

So losing him, plus Vlaar and Delph last summer made them virtual certainties for the drop, if they didn't replace them with equal quality - which they didn't.

Lerner only has himself to blame, he got bored with Villa 2 years since and has been trying to run them on a shoestring. That decision has now come back to haunt him.

I wouldn't have a bean on them coming back next year either. They could easily do a Leeds or a Sheff Weds.

**** 'em anyway, the scruffy brummie ****s. Can't stand them <laugh>

I like to think that me throwing in the towel has inspired them to pull their finger out :)

    Exactly my thoughts!

You sell the spine of your team and replace them with 'maybe's' then you deserve it. Simple.

If i was a Villa fan i would be seriously worried where this will end as even with Lerners penny pinching they haven't been making money so in the championship they are in the financial **** plus that team today would be lucky not to go down to league 1

It's worse that that. They've got players on big money contracts who are absolutely ****ing awful, and there'll be no takers for them.

They're going to left with a squad of over paid prima donnas who won't have the heart or stomach for the Championship.

Oh how we laughed <laugh> burn brummies burn

Yes I agree. They are in a seriously bad position. Tbh if they don't bounce straight back up (which is very unlikely imo) then they could down down a few leagues. I can see it being a complete disaster and a full rebuild needed long term.

you worry for the future of any well established prem team when they get relegated as players will be on unsustainable wages for the championship. teams who have only been in PL a couple of years will normally have players on contracts with 2 wages i.e. PL & champ but established teams wont
