I would agree John. Chester is under contract until the summer of 2014 anyway so what is all the fuss about. Chester wont go in January as the current PL teams who may want him simply dont have the money go get him. Correct. January @ Hull City IMO will be more about who arrives than leaves. Would he ? But True about Kompany. But then Juleon Lescott cost £25m from Everton. So work the logic of that one out. Yes we would in January. But still in ther championship next summer is another question totally. Not in January. We want PL and selling our best players for even £10m is not good business at all is it when you look at tghe much bigger picture. Now ^^^^ this is more likely to happen. Plus Chester wont get many games at a PL club this season. The lad wants to play and he plays here. End of. Fact. Anyone who thinks ^^^^^ this is. Nothing will happen with James Chester before the summer. He is unmder contract until summer 2014 ffs. Correct. That would be the most sensible thing to do. AND.....by January Paul Lambert could have joined the sack race and Villa should be odds on to go down by then. Just saying like. From what i have seen so far the only thing stopping Hull City from automatic promotion is ourselves. The first 30mins @ Birmingham is the best ive seen any championship club play all season. Yes we were that good.
Now that is the KEY POINT. Concur that and its happy days. Its also something that Bruce, Barmby, Pearson have all failed to do so far. That run back in 2008 when we won 8 out 9 games in Feb-March-April was the catalyst our promotion. IF we could do that starting tonight then by the FA CUP 3rd round weekend we could be sitting pretty on top of the league. Reading did not get there run going until late January after we beat them at there place.
But then we wouldn't be under the radar and we would be main game on FLS! Then what are we going to moan about?
Lol. Who cares about that foooking radar ? As long as Liams dad Leroy is on the FLS then we would get a fair shake anyways. I for one have no issues with anyone moaning about Hull City being on top of the championship table. Do you ?
NONSENSE. We signed FC back in the sept. If you care to look up the facts FC did not actually score that many game winners. Many of FC goals came in 2's when we would have won the game anyway. Yes he played his part, But many others were more responsible for our promotion. Deano and Folan actually scored far more game winners that season. This ****fest over Campbell is pathetic and folks needs to move on. However, a January signing in the mould of a Jason Roberts would be nice. Darren Bent could be free not to mention one Andy Carroll. A bit More realistic would be say Kenwyn Jones from Stoke.
He actually signed in October(his debut was against Watford on Oct 20th), but 11 of his 15 goals came from the Christmas period onwards. If our strike partnership had been Deano and Folan, we'd never have made the play-off's, he was the single biggest reason we went up.
Glad you think so. But carry on thinking that. I dont remember him doing too much scoring in the 2 Watford play off games for starters. Like i said, he played his part but dont go saying he was the biggest reason, ffs.
I went to every game and I'm not an imbecile, so I think it fairly likely I will carry on thinking it, thanks.
Look at the team we played with most games Myhill Ricketts Brown Turner Dawson Garcia Marney Ash Pederson Windass Campbell That is not a promotion side, we went on a run and played on adrenalin. We weren't a great side one bit, we went on a run that any team in the championship can do that's why it's so great I guess. I would only take Campbell, Turner, Myhill out of that. Actually I'd have Ash too he would be perfect to sit in there for us this season.
Frenchy, I know you have some strange views but if you honestly think we'd have gone up without signing FC then you're ****ing crazy! It's only because you don't like him that this is your view, if we sign him in jan and get promoted again will you still dislike him?
All this talk about about being under the radar is a bit old hat just like radars theirselves are. I think we have been firmly above the radar since AA got rid of NB and put further in the spotlight once Bruce became manager.
I don't know about that. We've struggled to play with the pace and drive of that team ever since, it wasn't just a lucky run, even if the players weren't all well-known to neutrals. If we got promoted this season people in 5 years might say "Chester and Aluko are the only players I'd have out of that team" because by then they'll be established PL players while most of the others probably won't. As well as the three players you've mentioned, there are others who were very good at the time such as Windass, Garcia, Marney and Brown and Ricketts was great that season. I think most other teams would have taken a few of them off us if they could. Tickler is obviously wrong to undermine Campbell's contribution, but I don't think he was the only reason we got promoted.
That's a quality side. Don't forget we had Parlour/Okocha/Pedersen/Hughes Folan seemed to score every time he came off the bench!
I didn't say he was the only reason we got promoted, we had a good tidy side overall, but I remain of the opinion that if you took Campbell out the team, we'd have fallen short, he was running teams ragged. Your teams not quite correct by the way, if you're looking at our main starting XI, you need to put Hughes in for Pedersen.
True, but the same would probably apply for a lot of those players. Without Ashbee we might not have got that crucial win against Palace towards the end of the season, and do you remember how bad our defence was before (Wayne) Brown came in to sort it out? It became rock solid very quickly and whenever he was injured we really struggled. I think without Windass we wouldn't have got promoted as well. It wasn't my team by the way
