A minute ago it was 'many people'. Nsiala was all over the shop, at least in the first half - he got caught out time and again. When Hurst was talking afterwards about letting the ball bounce, that was Nsiala, although he was very quick to sweep up behind Chambers a few occasions. Nearly all of it from Rotherham was down the middle. I'm not saying Donacien had an electrifying match but if your mates are singling him out maybe they've got the two confused. Remember solid is not exactly high praise but getting the defensive basics right, not giving the ball away cheaply and creating half a dozen clear chances per game and scoring at least two of them need to be our goals for the time being.
It's no coincidence that the problem areas being highlighted are the ones that are self inflicted, Webster gone and replaced with a lower league player, all the proven Championship strikers gone and once again replaced with players who have never had to face opposition of Championship quality, we've enough m/fs to start a rugby team when they are not in the match day side but at least it should keep their fitness levels up! But heyho Evans has made another several £Ms profit so all's well. What a bloody shambles, if it wasn't my Club it would be laughable.
Mick McCarthy's defenders frequently made mistakes and we have players stepping up a level. I'm not massively concerned about those sorts of mistakes because it will take time to drill out of them. I think the back four we've been playing is the best we can do for now - chopping and changing defensively isn't going to help them settle and gel.
Well, another defining game. I agree with many comments post Exeter exit. The same team, more or less plus Edwards, will either come out guns blazing, work their socks off score an early cracker and go on to win...smiles and joy everywhere, all townies & club delirious at 1st win! OR Villa stun us and deflate and absolute shambles follows...with Hurst losing it big time. Ever positive and Adnams pint full, I am going against all rational thought, form and predictions and give us a hard fought 2-1 win. Our season kicks off. COYBs!
Like you Gaffer I've very mixed feelings about today, just hope the fans show a bit more patience than some on here! Sod it a 2-1 win and the crowd go wild!
Oh I've got patience I'll give any manager time just find his comments a bit drastic / the squads been totally changed in the space of no time at all! We'll have a good idea after 11 games where it's heading. Lets have three points today, with the season beginning
If we fail to get any points from Villa, Derby or Wednesday the play off zone will already be beyond us and we'll probably be stranded at the bottom of the table. The exciting thing about having a new manager and team is that it can unexpectedly click in any game, so I am hopeful. However, I am also starting to worry that the bookies have been right all along.
Same system. Jackson dropped, Harrison in. Ward dropped for Edun (vs last League game) Sorry but we are going to get walloped.
I think it will be a completely different performance today. We'll have a good game, battle, but will lose to a late hourihane goal to make it 1 nil villa
