A coach full of proud saints players should have headed back to the south coast tonight after a bright vibrant well thought out counter attacking performance gave City as hard a game at the Etihad as they've had in an awful long time.
Backed by a noisy passionate travelling support they gave a performance that suggests Saints will survive and flourish in the premier league rather than being the relegation fodder that the media like to portray promoted teams as.
Hopefully the media won't put the result down as city having an off day but rather give Southampton the credit they deserve for not allowing us to play our usual game at home and meekly surrendering like the majority of visitors to the Etihad last year who were already beaten coming out of the tunnel
Good luck for the season, look forward to my visit to st Mary's in February
