View from the opposition

Discussion in 'Tottenham Hotspur' started by Paulpowersleftfoot, Nov 24, 2013.

  1. Have to say that for me there's not much to fault in the OP's summary.
Might be a bit harsh across the board, but only Lennon and Sandro deserve a positive mention in my books.
And I also agree that Paulinho was very poor. Maybe playing pointless games in Florida on 17/11 and Toronto last Tuesday took their toll, cos he looked a couple of yards off the pace all game.

I didn't dispute most of PPLF's points. Nor did I say he meant badly. I'll add that maybe I should have looked up his posts to the previous game, and will take his word that he ran down his own manager as enthusiastically as he ran down our whole team. I just found the post strange, as I can't imagine reacting to the annihilation of another team, especially a non-rival, by starting a thread highly critical of that team on that team's board. I would enjoy my victory and say something pleasant, if I said anything at all. Otherwise I might think of myself as a bad winner. Also IMO, doesn't saying a team that lost 6-0 were awful from the manager down seem just a tad obvious? Maybe after reading the first few hundred or so sentiments to that effect, I viewed this one with a more jaundiced eye than it merited.

I think the bloke is spot on, we were ****, led by an idiot who failed to do his homework against the opposition, which is supposedly his speciality. How did he not know about which previous teams formations had success and which didn't. Well I think he did know, but just belligerently/arrogantly ignored it. Paulinho and Sandro did dominate MF, near enough 60/40 Spurs according to Sky stats at HT, but did **** all with it, Lennon too, good game?? when did he score last? he drifted past players a few times, great, what was the end product...**** all again, corners at best which are such a massive bonus! * (sarcasm) Navas was the only winger to have a good game.

Organisation, we have none off it nor on it, we have no leader in those situations, and no motivation.

We've been analysed by one and all now, the media is full of detailed opinion with pretty much the same conclusion as myself and a good many others have had some time, if not all the time, a very good squad being played wrong, but most importantly, and most astonishingly for the latest 7, do not have the skillset to play the way they're being asked to play.

    * There was a corner late on by Sig, it was actually a decent corner, nice speed height and whip into the near post 'zone' if you like, guess who was there...****in no-one. Anyone of 2 City players could have defended it unchallenged, as there was no Spurs player within 10yds of it, and thats a mile in the penalty box as far as I'm concerned. A goalmouth is defended in zones for a reason, its expecting a threat from everywhere. We had two players at the back stick and one at the very front nr the 6yd box line for a flick-on, the rest god knows but not only was the near post unattended, but no-one attacked the space and thats where the ball dropped. Other Examples of this end result happen every week.

Paulinho, not sure on him either, Souness is right, arrives too early or too late most of the time, and his end product is indifferent, composed and clinical he is not, none of our forwards are either, with the exception of Soldado...given good opportunities not half chances with loads to do still. We marvelled at Pauli's Cardiff goal, but it was his only last ditch option left as he'd mistimed his run early.

We seem to have a lot of cogs, but not enough final drive wheels, ones got a puncture, and the steering's been ****ed for a while!
