Thought we all lived in Stockport?
A very bad day at the office on the south coast finally put paid to any lingering ambitions of retaining the title.
From the first minute to the last, the young men from Southampton completely outfought and outplayed their much vaunted counterparts who in truth never really looked up for a fight.
The impressive trio of Cork Rodriguez and Schneiderlin completely controlled the centre of the park and made yaya, barry and Nasri look like championship players drowning in a sea of red.
Dzekos breakaway goal before the break gave a false picture to how much superior saints were and but for Martin Atkinsons poor reading of what a penalty should be given for when yaya clearly fouled in the box,the two goal cushion should've been restored
Perhaps the Barry OG early I'm the second half was justice for the poor refereeing decision but it also put paid to this as a contest and the lasting conclusion was while City were very poor,it was Southampton not letting City play causing the problems more than anything and the new saints manager had outcoached Mancini comprehensively
We sang our hearts out behind the goal but sadly that was the only passion shown from Manchester today.
Ah well lets regroup and be ready for dirty Leeds next Sunday
Another must win game, hope they weren't watching today

Have to say, credit to your fans today who were great for the vast majority of the game. They would have been well within their rights to get on the players backs with that performance.

Good to see a very fair and honest appraisal from a losing fan; we normally get excuses, but well done, that is very fair.

Not really sure that the city fans 'sung their hearts out'. maybe they made a bit of noise towards the end to save face but on the whole i thought their support was poor. Prob because saints got the early goal i guess...

Almost poetic, appreciate your words and will reiterate DT36's point that your fans were very good. Not trying to take pity and give you false praise, I was genuinely very impressed during the game at your support, considering how drab and passionless your players were, the fans were completely the opposite.

Disagree strongly; I thought the City fans were one of the best and loudest we've had down this season

We were a bit down for a while when we conceded early and played so poorly
But the majority of us have seen much much worse
Doesn't do anyone any good getting on the players backs,we even sung Mancinis name at 3-1 down, not really sure if anyone really believes in him though but we as fans move on
When Mancini yaya Aguero are just names in our history books we'll still be there
It's what we do and it's only a game

Amen to that, well said <ok>

Other than the mob that Chelsea bought for the cup, City's fans were the loudest this year without question. Also had the pleasure of chatting to a Man City fan on the train that had only missed one away game in the last 2 decades, real nice chap.

MB You are the only one who is saying they were poor. Why don't you just be gracious instead of trying to stick the knife in more

I'm not the only one saying their support was poor?! From where I was sitting Man City were silent for the majority of the first half and though they did rouse themselves for a bit in the second half they were by no means the best away supporters we've heard at Saints this season. Maybe the ESPN mics were honed in on that area...

I thought they were pretty good. Meet some good lads in the pub before hand, and a pissed Doris as well.

Chelsea support was great in the cup, but they had more. Hard to think of better support we've seen this year. Spurs maybe, but after that cant think of too many better

Well i strongly disagree with you - i sit in Block 37 in the corner near the Northam and everybody around me were commenting that the City fans were the best 'big team' fans we have had at St Marys, they supported their team til the end even though they were being played off the park by the mighty Saints.
Was also in the Witherspoons having a beer and a chat with City fans before & after the game and they were all a really good bunch of proper football supporters. Its the most away fans that i have seen in that pub this season.

Thanks for such a decent write up on the game, when your team has been well beaten it takes a proper football supporter to be so honest. Thought your support was very good today and had a good laugh with quite a few City fans before & after the game, including a very fit young lady !

As much as it pains me to say it, due to my strong dislike for most fans of their club, Manchester United were probably the second best I've seen this season behind only Chelsea in the cup.

As you said though, Chelsea did have more and did smash five past us so had reason to cheer.

City fans were brilliant first half and the end of the second but I think our third seemed to quiet the away end down for a large period of the second half.

Also credit to the City fan that created my new favourite football chant, had it stuck in my head the whole drive back to Cardiff.

I thought when they were singing they were very loud and one of if not the loudest I've heard at St Mary's in a while, however, they did go quiet for a long period of time and saved face by cheering and singing for approx last 20 minutes. Overall they were behaved and seemed a good set of supporters.

Oh and that Toure song is class.
