While we're here did anyone have a **** computer in the 80s? We had an Acorn Electron, it was badass. This was my favourite game, Chuckie Egg:
You played the little yellow guy in the hat, you had to collect all the eggs and avoid the purple birds that walked around. In later levels the bird in the top left would come out the cage and start flapping around and you had to avoid him as well, was feckin difficult.
Eye of the Beholder was the game for me. But also enjoyed playing Missile Command, Bubble Bobble and Rainbow Islands. Later on I used to get my butt kicked by son on any beat em up game and any racing game which he always claimed he’d not played for ages but would win whilst he was doing his homework, speaking to a friend on his phone, eating his tea and whilst playing with his wrong hand with three blindfolds on all at the same time.
On the Mega Drive? Mortal Kombat and SF2 came out when it was dying on its ass. Peak Mega Drive was stuff Sonic, Streets Of Rage, Road Rash, Quackshot etc. Once the SNES came out it killed the MD, and the MD tried to up its game up by putting out higher quality games like Mortal Kombat and SF2, but it was over by then.
In primary school one person every holiday was allowed to take it home. No idea how they chose but I had the good fortune of being allowed it during the six week holiday!
We had it at home on the crapbox that was the Acorn Electron. This and various versions of Pac Man were the highlights. Oh and text adventures, all kinds of awesome - your imagination could run wild with a text adventure when their weren't hideous graphics to impeed it.
I do it go get out of real life. My life and job are very stressful so I play games to chill. They actually also stress me out. Lol. I am playing Elden Ring at the moment and it’s amazing. Like being in a different world.
The nee games these days and the graphics are unbelievable. Almost life like. I can see why people don’t play games mind.
I'm the exactly opposite tbh - been working from home for the last 2 years, so the thought of spending long periods here in my free time is horrifying. Thus I go out running and meet up with mates elsewhere as much as possible....on that note, the 420 fest in Hyde Park yesterday was freakin ace.
It is indeed, probably put more hours into this than any other game, no difficulty settings, just brutal from the start lol. Finished it a few months back, playing Starfield currently while waiting for Elden Ring DLC
