"If Hitler invaded hell, I would at least make a favourable reference to the Devil in the House of Commons."

Ol' Winston did have a way with words.

Is that you at the front with the hat on?

Edit: Read to the end of the thread before joking about Fosse's age. You know some other twat is going to do it.

You need proper Pisco Brandy to do an authentic one.

It must be one of the world's cheapest alcohols. Colleague of mine used to clean his teeth with it when we worked in Lima as it was cheaper than the bottled water.

Stalin probably killed more Russians than Hitler did. At Stalingrad, the NKVD executed approximately 13,000 of their own soldiers, for alleged cowardice.

Still, it was the Red Army that defeated the Wehrmacht. It’s hard to imagine the remaining allies could have done so, for all America’s seemingly unlimited resources.

Had a very nice day as it goes. No OTT celebrations on our road but people were in and out for large parts of the day so there was a decent atmosphere. We were chilling out the front for the most part. Went for a walk and there's quite a few elderly round here so this old fella was telling us about the area a few years after the war... the usual "you could see nowt for miles but fields" sort of stuff but quite nostalgic.

I ordered some from South America that arrived last week - only the authentic stuff would do for me! I first tried them when I was out there and absolutely loved them!

Yeah and also a fairly recent thing I thought?

In terms of remembering the dead it’s done on 11/11 and we remember all those who have fallen including ze Germans.

Yeah I thought I read somewhere that this year was the first time it had been officially commemorated since reunification.
