And SaintDon not sure what you mean? I don't think it's negative to say I think Morgans been promised a move next year and that if he carries on his current form then there are going to clubs interested who we simply can not compete with, on any level.

Don't know but all this talk of players leaving and being poached is getting up my nose. It makes no sense to me that while we are "punching above our weight", why players would want to leave, why would another team want to pay big bucks for a player that may never be the force he was before a crippling injury put a hold on his career, speculate about it all you like but unless you can provide concrete evidence please make sure that what you say is "in your own opinion" not fact straight from the horses mouth.

Pessimistic post alert, but after this summer I don't expect players to follow this logic. Fact is in the footballing food chain we're still relatively small fry. Players will convince themselves that leaving the bosom of SFC is still the right thing for their career despite evidence to the contrary. Bigger wages, bigger crowds, perceived better chance of titles.

As a saints fan I don't lie awake at night worrying about it and the start to this season shows that the club is not built on Cortese sand, but when it comes to keeping hold of individual talents then i'm afraid it's a battle this club/regime cannot win.

We're very likely to lose players we would rather keep this summer especially if we finish again as the nearly men

but whatever, second in the league and if you can't enjoy the present then you'll never enjoy the future

If we finish 4th there is a good chance he will stay.

Arsenal are unlikely to pay the asking price based on past history. Any "promise" we have made him (not convinced of this btw as it is no way to do business) will only be put into place if Arsenal meet the asking price. Arsene Wenger is notorious for not paying a penny more than "he" thinks a player is worth. And also notorious for not paying big money on defensive players.

As a result I do not see them bidding 25m + for Morgan regardless of how he plays.

And PSG are very well stocked in CM regardless of how well Morgan is playing. Cabaye, Matuidi, Motta, Verratti and the youngster Rabiot. If they go big money on CM they could well try for Pogba. If they are the ones would a deal involving Cabaye be a good deal for us (or is he too different to Morgan - never really saw a lot of him)

If we qualify for Champions League, Arsene Wenger will think he is worth 25M+ and Morgan would have proved that, if the season ends with us in that position. My guess would be Madrid or Barca though

And whose position is he going to take in Spain? Kroos, Modric, Rodriguez, Iniesta, Xavi, Busquets or Rakitic.

Well Xavi is nearly on his way, Kroos and Modric are slightly different. Busquets probably the closest style to him ... and I believe he can live in their company.

He will go to PSG, they will have Morgan and Pogba as their defensive midfield.
 
So according to MOTD extra, the reason we are doing so well is because our players aren't under the same pressure. ****ing sports journalists, like they would know. We're getting some positive press, don't get me wrong, but how many reasons are they gonna find to grudgingly admit we, at present, are good.

Fair play yo Keown though. He's loving it.
 
Actually makes sense. Clubs like Chelsea, City, United etc expect to win, so each win isn't such fun and every loss is worse. Saints players are enjoying every victory and we would probably tolerate losses better (though we would be shocked now :)).

There's likely something to that. Liverpool, Man U, Tottenham...they're all media circuses at the moment, with managers who are getting pummeled at every turn. We've been very good, but we've also avoided turning into frantic messes on those rare occasions when things haven't gone to plan. We don't play with the fear of a bad result that some of the 'big clubs' seem to at the moment, and consequently a 'negative' (fluky West Ham opener, QPR equalizing, failing to score for most of the match against 10-man Swansea, failing to score for most of the match against Leicester) doesn't cause heads to go down.

Yeah I know there's probably something it, but some seem to be looking for every excuse there is and I felt like a rant!

So our players aren't under the same pressure, but we did alright coping with the following:

We've coped with manger leaving
We've coped with new manger transition
We've coped with mass exodus transition
We've coped with new player (from crap league) transition
we've coped with the whole world (exaggerate) doom mongering

yet these, are still being used as excuses for some of the 'big' clubs.

Saints placated him and his agents by telling them to wait on the managerial situation to clear up and the transfer window to progress.

I don't expect him to see out his deal - he can and will go higher, whether with us or someone else.

I believe this was the misunderstanding he referred to on Goals on Sunday this morning, when asked as to why he wasn't starting games at the beginning of the season.
