We have to see if other clubs are willing to pay £4.7m first of all. IMO, he's not a big enough 'fish' for the top 7 clubs, which leaves WBA down to come in or not, as the case may be. One thing in City's favour is that RvW has opted to come to Norwich, and he's a bigger fish than Toivenon.
Slightly more 'in depth' analysis of what he might bring to the party. http://www.dutchfootball-league.com/transfer-rumours-whats-next-for-ola-toivonen/
Excellent article, Cromer, and the best I've read on Toivonen. The description reminds me of Fellaini, especially remembering the deliberate elbow that felled Bunn as a corner was coming in: "Toivonen is – as already mentioned – a gifted player. His ideal position is as an offensive midfielder. His biggest assests are no doubt his game intelligence, passing game and long distance shoot(ing). The combination of offensive skills and physique makes him a different type of offensive midfielder compared to the more common ... smaller, quicker ones. Toivonen’s size (189 cm) gives him a physical presence on the pitch. That fact that he’s also a bit of a dirty player, always prepared with sharp elbows and cheap shots, makes him uncomfortable to play against. Premier League realistic – but not ideal. Toivonen is an outspoken supporter of keeping the ball on the ground. He doesn’t fancy joining a “long ball team” and he will be doing his tactical research very carefully before signing a contract with a new club. His abilities and natural position also require the team to play in a specific way, a 4-4-2-team isn’t attractive to an offensive midfielder like him." Sounds like a good fit for CH's preferred 4-2-3-1 formation.
Good heavens! Don't tell me CH is trying to sign "an outspoken supporter of keeping the ball on the ground". Surely not.
He doesn't like long ball sides, and he HATES having his name spelled wrongly. In addition to watching videos of City's direst games, he is trawling NOT606 and the PinkUn forum looking for reasons to turn us down. I've given up all hope already.
The Toivenon possibility seems to have moved on a fair amount: http://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/...rwich_city_over_premier_league_move_1_2239869 IMO, the rumours of City meeting his agent have now moved on to this three-way discussion either directly or indirectly. No signing is going to please everybody, but, IMO, Toivenon is what City have been lacking: "his game intelligence, passing game and long distance shooting" would hopefully fill that 'missing link' in mid-field last season. Howson showed what a difference this can make in the final games, but City need another option as well. I'll be very happy if this one comes off.
Check out the comment at the foot of this article, I think we can safely say this guy doesn't want him anywhere near our Football Club ! http://www.norwich.vitalfootball.co.uk/sitepage.asp?a=322052
that dipstick probably thinks kimi räikkönen is a **** driver based on what he says seriously, some people are so dumb. its the scandinavian personality in full swing - they are abrupt and often come across a bit rude - its just because they are honest and use the few words necessary to get a point out, unlike us who ramble on and on, always trying to be diplomatic. is he a good player? yes. is he better than what we already have? yes. will he score goals from midfield? yes. sign him up? yes please
a definite yes please from me also. a real presence in mid-field and a real goal scoring threat there also. a big step forward from last season.
We definitely need more goals from midfield, and Toivenon has a better scoring rate than most strikers!
