CH's record for signing players is damned good, IMO.

So he doesn't know much about Norwich. Well I knew bu**er all about him 48 hours ago. So it's mutual. If he's interested he'll find out about us, our wonderful fans and the state of the art facilities at Colney. And I'll look him up on Wiki.

Of course the style of play has an effect on your conversion ratio, if your playing counter attack then your chances of scoring increase because you should in theory generate easier chances. If your knocking long crosses to one man the chance to score is that much harder. If your banging long crosses when you have 3 in the box then he's more likely to have an easier chance through a knock down.

I can't recall too many chances Holt has missed, no more so than he missed last season, and the season before so theres no change for me.

The difference this year has been both the quantity of chances and the quality has had just as bad an impact on his goal scoring.

To be honest I think he done well to get what he did given the absolute rubbish he had to feed on.

I'm off to Dub in September for Ireland v Sweden for a WCQ. Would be great to see two Canary midfielders doing battle!

    Completely agree.

I think the fact that the games where he wasn't given rubbish to feed (West Brom, Swansea away) and we were pretty unanimous that these were good performances, were also the games he scored in.

If he stays I wouldn't be surprised to see him get into double figures with fewer minutes on the pitch next season

I don't want to spur things up but I just got off the airplane from Heathrow to Amsterdam, and Marcel Brands was on that flight, 100% sure of it. I don't know if he was in Norwich or not but he seemed nervous in the queue.

Nagging feeling about this toivonen guy from the reports and chat about his attitude... Sounds like the polar opposite personality that generated the amazing team spirit we had over the past few seasons. Hope this isn't the end of that. Can't believe there's a link with Villa either. He sounds like the anti-Lambert signing in that respect. If he's 'too big' for PSV he'll be a handful at Norwich. Completely admit I don't know the guy. Just going on what i've read in the past 48 hrs.

He wants to play for a team who 'play football'. If he signs that'll indicate that the football will probably improve next season. If he doesn't it's probably because he's watched some DVD's from last season.

I sort of agree with you Hairy Mary, he sounds like a bit of a tosser to be honest. Not sure whether that'll upset the changing room. I've heard not many people like Butterfield around the changing room and probably partly why he hasn't seemed to have settled well at Norwich.

I'm struggling a bit to understand why he seems like a tosser and why he'd upset the dressing room. Where are you getting all of this info from?

as usual longsight, there is an over reaction from some people. i really wouldn't worry about this 'perceived' attitude problem. this all emanates from him being quite a fiery player who has been involved in a few incidents such as an alleged stamp and a few flailing elbows, but he isn't near the level that grant holt is labelled, so why are these people not worried about him?! would people not have wanted shearer in his prime? i'd say toivonen's reputation for being a bit of a bastard is similar in that respect. i personally love having a player who can handle himself. a player who everybody hates but would love in their side.

his comments about norwich and the premier league DO NOT tell us that he isn't that interested or not bothered by us - they tell us that he doesn't know much about the club, which is completely fair enough - i don't know much about a few of the dutch clubs. at least he's being honest about it rather than drip feeding the usual guff we hear from players about 'massive club' and 'great fans'. he'll sit down, do his research and see if we're a club he's interested in - nothing wrong with that at all - its a big decision to make to move his family over to england, to a club and area he knows little about.

he's not 'too big' for psv - he has just come to the end of the line with the club. i also believe that hughton is better at handling players with bigger egos than lambert was. bassong for example - hughton has managed him brilliantly, so i have no issue with hughton signing players who are a bit more leftfield from where we've been before. as long as they speak english fluently.

I did see a you tube compilation that Holtamania put up on twitter that showed numerous clips of him blatantly diving to get players carded and an excessive use of the elbows on several separate occasions... hmmmm

i could compile a video of holt doing similar - should we get rid of him? i personally love us to have a tough bastard in our side. i could compile a video of shearer doing likewise. rooney. beckham. even cristiano ronaldo! i fail to see the issue. he's not joey barton ffs.

According to Sky Sports, the player himself has given an indication of the style of football he would prefer to be involved with - "I do not like too many high balls"

There is no doubt our recent style of play is very different to that of years gone by, Brown and Stringer. It's a bit chicken and egg, though, because it looks like Hughton is trying to sign the type of player to address this.

Supers, I reckon the reasoning why people have these views on what he is like is because he is perceived to be throwing a strop about the style of football PSV has played, say you sign him on say a four year contract, and you start of playing nice football but not getting the points, so you have to revert to a more direct style to kick start a run, what is he going to do, from the reports at the moment cause havoc in the dressing room?

A player should be happy to go with whatever style the manager sets out with.
