I read somewhere that Webber was already agreeing his contract for next year. The 1-2 in Turkey must of silenced a few demons from last year in Red Bull and in the end pushed it forward.

Thanks, Abs. An early announcement would be very welcome for fans but I expect Ecclestone would prefer teams and drivers to keep the rumour mills grinding to the end of the season.

Do you reacon RB see Webber as the perfect #2? I think secretly they do but will spin it to keep him happy.

You can't make Webber happy, he moans about everyone and everything. his favourite line seems to be "I don't wanna make excuses" followed by an excuse.

Webber is one of the biggest whingers but you could say that about every driver. I think Webber in terms of quality is a decent number two, not really going to take too much points out of his teammate (I know last year they were close but Vettel had three car failures whilst leading Grands Prix) but quick enough to collect good points for the team. Psychologically he isn't a number two though. He's gritty and determined and will never accept a role as number two, unlike Massa for example.

To be honest I don't mind drivers speaking their minds and saying what's what. I have no problem with Webber's snipes, nor Hamilton's, nor Button's.

The only time I've balked at a driver's comments was Vettel following Button's Brazil 2009 victory. In itself it was no worse than Webber or Hamilton or Button, but it was made after the WDC had been decided at the moment when congratulations are due. You can compare him to Massa in Brazil in 2008 and say "show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser" but there's a world of difference between petulant spite and coruscating passion.

Excellent post. Completely agree.
